Ok, a bit of a bold prediction, but I am fairly confident this year is just a slump that we will get out of. We won't win the premiership. However, I believe North Melbourne won't be in the 8th next year, Sydney will drop out for at least a year within the next couple, so lets say it opens up room for at least 2 clubs. I believe the following things will happen.

- We will get in at least one decent/star player this year
- We will use our pick 6 or whatever very well and recruit a gun inside mid or outside mid. I haven't paid much attention to this years crop, so I really don't know who we will get, but the last few years our recruiting has been ok, so I have confidence for this pick.
- Williams, Lade, Mellor at least will be gone next year. Dimma will still be around, but will get new assistants around him who are not his mates and not afraid to question his every decision.
- Players who haven't been amazing like BEllis, Edwards will find form again and have great years.
- Ben Griffiths will have his career best season and will be our second best forward.
- Our coaching staff will say enough with the season start hoodoos, we got a fright last year we can't allow it to happen again and we will win at least our first 3-4 games.

- if we have another horrid year, Dimma will be sacked (For sure)

Feel free to tell me how delusional I am, but I'm pretty confident itll be a good year...

Mods... If by this time next year I am found to be completely wrong on this, feel free to ban me for a week for being such a moron.

Depends what your version of a good year is?
If we keep playing the kids the way we are, keep our draft picks and trade for some more, and then end up in the bottom of the 8 I would call that a terrific year and easily Hardwicks best.
Don't make many changes and keep banging away and end up in the bottom of the 8...meh.

I think we will go back to an exciting brand of footy..

Club has realised that there needs to be some change after a poor year, so I think there will be a few delistings, maybe some trades (nto many since the club likes to retain players) and good new talent coming in. Our kids will continue to develop and propel us back into finals contention :) for next year that would be a good year, I think its too much to expect us to be premiers yet, but we will get there.

And then you woke up

I feel that we'll perform worse on the ladder or at least on par as this year, but it is not necessarily a bad thing.

1. Right now, our depth is quite poor and we have a lot of inexperienced players currently featuring in our senior side (think Jayden Short, CEllis, Oleg Markov, Rioli etc.) While I think that it would be great boost for a star player to come here, I don't think it'll launch us into the top 8 because of the amount of gaps we have in our list. The gaps are:

- Ruck department. What happens if Hampson goes down?
- Defence
- Midfield
- Forward line

Pretty much, all over the ground. I think that at least two of these areas will probably be addressed over the off-season (likely the forward line and midfield IMO), but I don't think all will.

2. The club will probably not recruit a plethora of mature-aged recruits as fill-ins given the backlash they received. This means that they'll probably either go for elite players or youngsters. I doubt they'll recruit enough elite players to push us up the ladder straight away and I don't think enough of our young players (including the ones we draft) will become solid players over an offseason to make us a top 8 side.

3. There are other sides out of the 8 like Port Adelaide, St Kilda, and Melbourne who are closer to working out their best 22 players than we are, so I expect them to finish in the top 8 before we will (not that they will, but I expect this).

4. I think we had a great injury run over most of 2013-2015, and if we have an injury run as we did this year, I don't see us being able to cover for it because I think it'll take more than a year to fix our depth issues.

All in all, I think we have fallen further than what it may seem to people this year and that it'll take more than one off-season to fix it. I may sound pessimistic, but to be honest, it isn't a bad thing. It'll help us actually build a side that can contest for the Premiership rather than just making up the numbers. I see us returning to finals again in 2018-2019 if we don't lose any of our current star players and 2019-2021 if we do see a couple of or star players leaving.

TL;DR - I don't think we'll bounce back next year because of where our depth and distribution of experience is at. Also, I think other teams currently out of the 8 are closer to a stable 22 than we are, so I see them taking vacant top 8 places before we do.

One year at a time. Number eight in total by next year. If DH is still coaching us 16 other coaches will be giggling amongst themselves . Cannot see how we could possibly improve base on 7 years of mediocrity. North beat us by 12 goals with Daws in the ruck , Cunnington out and Scott watching from his bedroom .
We are so far off its a joke.
Only way we could improve is if the bored is overthrown with the coach and his bandits . It will at least mean that the rotten head of the fish has been eliminated.

Clubs stuffed mate. We've stuffed up our drafting and recruiting for years on end. Can't expect the last two years draft to lift the team next year they're at least another two years away from being able to hang in games long enough to make a consistent difference.

Club needs to rip the band aid off. Don't be stupid and trade away two years worth of first rounders, go to the draft like a proper club and rebuild it like a pro club would, just like Dan Richardson told us we should have.

Richmond Will play Gws in the grand final and tiger imposter will finally come out of the closet and admit he's a one eyed Carlton supporter, bookmark it
And you will admit you were once a Bomber followed by a Port Power mug ,a Hawk under Clarkson in 08 and a Tiger since late 09. Bravo like a kid you're still playing follow the leader

This sounds like my supercoach tactics

Lift what team? The one that has been able to take it up to the best teams in the comp and win from 2013-2015?
Our list is nearly the same as that. The young kids will replace our bottom 16-22 players of our 22 and make us a better team.
Out of our top players who have we lost? No one. Whos going downhill? No one.
Theoretically our team should be better than 2013/14/15.

We have way better depth this year than we have in previous years...

especially with players who were once duds improving (morris, astbury)

not that I wouldn't rather the club to look for a better option, but I think the Rance/Astbury/Grimes combo down back can work quite well.

Once we get the likes of Houli/Yaz/Morris back, Vlastuin will likely be played as a mid (HOPEFULLY), with him in there our midfield is pretty strong.

Griffs will be a good second forward if he becomes consistent, not overly excited on mcbean though, he could be tradeable. Get some games into Lennon, that forward looks good... Riewoldt, Griffs, Lennon, Lloyd, Rioli

Dimma has stated a few times this year that we are taking half a step back to take two steps forward, whether this is true or not we will not know until the end of 2017. I think we should keep him for next year on the basis that we win a final. I really hope Dimma is true to his words and we win a final next year. I really like to be optimistic so my prediction is that we will "stand up" and win a final next year.
