Is it just me or are soo many ppl on this forum a bunch of pessimistic ********s!!!
We won the 4 points tonight and started to play like we were at the start of the year.. tackling etc. Players like Medhurst, Richards and Bryan all stood up and had a crack.
There is a lot of room for improvement but some of the comments I have read in nearly all of the threads started tonight have been absolute crap. I'm not going to name names but some of you need to pick yourself up out of the pessimism gutter and have a look at the bright side.

Just have a go at it .... You might feel good :D

Collingwood are not playing very well, but also I think it may also be rubbing off from the media a bit who have written us off and are claiming that we won't beat anybody of note for the remainder of the season. It's a quite similar feeling compared to the end of the 2002 home and away season.

One of them is a clown named Bill Brownless, but he so obviously feels that the only thing to be determined this season is who the team will be that is going to thrashed by Geelong in the Grand Final. He was actually stirring Eddie McGuire and telling him how much better Geelong are after the match a few weeks ago. Short memories considering Collingwood had beaten Geelong four of the previous five matches and can do it again on the right day.

However, I feel more confident about playing the better sides than the sides that Collingwood are expected to beat. That goes with inexperience and expectations I suppose, and the good news is that all matches from now on are against rated teams.

Finally, Collingwood have played 10 debutantes so far this season, and have exceeded the expectations of not only the media, but many of their supporters that post right here in this message board. I've enjoyed what I have seen from this team so far this season. They can beat anybody on a given day, and the future looks beaut!

I actually thought we toughed out last nights win.

A couple of things against us.....
1 ) Neitz's 300th game, and from I believe, there were a few motivational
speeches from ex players & coaches before the game.
2 ) Melbourne's confidence coming off a win against the Doggies last week
3 ) Our recent form against Melbourne
4 ) Our recent form slump
5 ) Coaches funeral distraction

We started ablaze and were looking like millionaires at 1/4 time.
Melbourne's errors & goal kicking was terrible in the 1st half and they
came out pumped up for Neita after 1/2 time, so it was game on.

To only kick 2 goals after the half time and still win was a great effort
in my book.

Some performances to note....
Leon's goal and 1st half was sensational. Tried to break a mini tag.
Rusling was Rusty but worked into it and will be better for the run.
T.Cloke - love his work ethic and ability to contest
Dids scissor kick shows that the confidence is nearly back after a long 2 month form wilderness.

I wouldn't want to be playing us leading into finals.

Watch out Sydney & Adelaide

It was great to get the 4 points, and see a few positives come out of the game, the form of medhurst, the rucking of Bryan/Richards, and the return of Rusling.
I just don't know why we can't put sides away though. Leading by 41 pts at 1/2 time, and Melbourne 3 players down, we should have won by at least 10 goals. But hopefully the win will give us a bit of confidence, and we can come out against Sydeney, a fellow finalist, and smash them.

call me a pessimist if you like but we were terrible last night. Ok in the first half but when a team has no bench for a half and they can outscore you by 4 goals then you cannot possibley say its a good performance. Especially when that team has only won a couple of games for the year.

I think our future is very bright but we have hit the wall bigtime. Our form at the moment is as bad as anyone at the moment. But I have expected it. Being such a young team and relying on so many kids to play key roles it was bound to happen sooner or later.

you should have won more games this year but you didn't, enjoy making soup with your spoon

first quarter was awesome, back to how we played before the form slump, but after half time they all stopped, they didn't finish off melbourne by kicking point after point from stupid angles, but at least they won, and against sydney next week the boys should be full of energy because i reckon they had a break on purpose in the second..i hope

I enjoy the Spoon and beating the pies as one of our 2 and half wins !!

:D And then wasting more draft picks. :D Tigers should have the greatest team in history given they have been in the cellar longer than a bottle of Grange.

I for one thought we did very well last night. The Johnson incident fired Melbourne up, and it let them back into the game, we just seemed lost. Apart from that though, we were dominant in the first half, flowing through to all our forwards, not just 1 or 2. Then in the last, it was arguably even, and Medhurst laid a few important 1%ers to get us over the line.

Martin Clarke:thumbsu:
12 wins by round 20:thumbsu:
Travis cloke this year:thumbsu:

Heath Shaw on half back:thumbsu:

Yes we have our flaws (midfield, ruck) but looking back to round 1 we should be happy with the year so far. I was thinking we would have a long year but fantastic so far even with so disappointing performances. Strap yourself in for ride!

Yeah, agree with that, Ant. We should have poleaxed them last night given our halftime lead and their injuries. In the end, we just hung on for dear life against a team that's won four games for the entire year and had no interchange bench. Very poor performance. We need to improve dramatically if we're to do anything against Sydney next week. And if we make the finals (I don't think we're a certainty yet), we're facing elimination in the first week if we serve up that garbage.

I wasn't unhappy with our effort in the first half, but our effort in the second half, and our skill level for basically the whole game was absolute rubbish. BTW did anyone notice Heath Shaw squib a few marks? Shaw is as courageous as they come so those were a bit odd. He tried hard today, and had quite a decent game, but his kicking was shit most of the game.

For christ sake, get a life and go back to your own board. I suppose you lot skulked around at the other teams board the last time you won a game too? That's exactly why where I live nobody can stand a bloody Richmond supporter. You have a shit year and have only won two games so far, and you still come out of the woodwork and gob off! Jog on!
