- Brad Green as captain
- Dean Bailey as coach
- Rivers/Bate in the team
- The ridiculous lack of heart. I am yet to see a game we have won recently where we were down by more than a 3 goal deficit and at LEAST fight it out

That is all. Man I'm sick of us just crumbling when another team gets 20+ points up.

There is clearly a culture problem at our club that shows no signs of being addressed.

How the **** does Jared Rivers get a game every week?

He has NO STRENGTHS at all.

Absolute joke, id rather MacDonald in the team

Must say I agree with 2 of those.

We need to get rid of that culture, aswell as gain some heart. In the first quarter today, we were down by 5 goals and kicked 3 in the matter of a few minutes. If we kept that play up consistently we'd likely be in the finals.

Dean Bailey, isn't a bad coach in my books. But is he a premiership coach? No. Mick Malthouse, Alastair Clarkson and a few others are out-of-contract at the end of this year, shop around. Invest in one of these coaches who are premiership coaches and things will take care of themselves.

Brad Green, though not the best player in our team, is a great leader. Deserving of his captaincy, but we should look at other options such as Frawley or even Trengove(Just examples).

Jarrod Rivers is a good player. Matthew Bate, though not as skilled as any of Collingwood's brilliant defence, which is the benchmark of the league, is still one of our best 22 and deserving of a spot in our team.

You can't fault the effort of Rivers but he is too slow and too weak to play at AFL level.

You HAVE to have at least one of strength/speed/mobility. Rivers has none of them, reads the play well and is a good mark and spoiler but what is the point of that when you can't get to the ball or just get pushed off it?

That was a terribly frustrating game to watch. Every time they would score, we'd peg a goal back, but only for them to score another goal. Really, it was only a matter of time before they ran away with it.

Green probably only has one more year left in him, so it's evident that we won't win a flag with him.

The game has past Bate by. Or maybe he was never really any good. Rivers still has a place imo, largely as a third tall though.

Jury is still out on Bailey. I'm confident that he'll be re-contracted, so we'll have to wait and see.

We were terrible in the 2nd half today, but we have to remember that Hawthorn are 3/4 years more mature than what our list is. A midfield consisting of Lewis, Mitchell, Hodge and Sewell was always going to slaughter our physically inferior midfield.

Rivers did well, spoiled heap of marks.
The problem was the midfield. Thrashed. Moloney, Jamar OK in first half. Nothing from Gysberts, Trengove, little from Sylvia. McKenzie beaten by Mitchell.

Time for Bailey to go.

All his wins come against shitty interstate teams at the MCG, plus some wins against Richmond.

Terrible.

Not neccesarily his fault. Not only have they been his wins, but also the team's. Hes just a small part of it.

Rivers is fine no ****ing way does he deserve to be lagged in with bate, the rest I agree with.

Bate was only out there due to Jurrah's late withdrawal.

Replace Green with Moloney and the heart will be there.

Replace Bailey with Roos or Malthouse and JOB DONE!!!!

I have a feeling that we are already looking at prospective replacements for Dean Bailey. Would love a Malthouse, Roos or even Clarkson, but I doubt we could snag any of them. Viney could be a good option from within, otherwise we'll be looking at other teams assistants.

Green will probably have one more year left as captain, he started a bit ordinary this season but his last couple of months have been more productive. Though Moloney does seem the obvious candidate at the moment.

Bate is not in our best 22 and will struggle to get a new contract at the end of next year. Can't see much of a future for him unfortunately.

Heart...I wish we had some.

Your forgot Jamie ****ing Bennell.

Earn your pay check mate
Check out how many times how easily he went to ground or got knocked off the ball. Is NOT AFL standard imo. And where the hell are all our small crumbing forwards.

Moloney was going to be captain in a few years until this year's incident. May still be, but put him back, I'm sure.

We won't win a flag without a willingness to work hard to support each other through shepherds and blocks...D.Nicholson's effort on Max Bailey was pathetic. Yes he's a lot smaller, but he barely made an attempt to get in his way.

We won't win a flag by continually bombing the ball long to mid sized forwards. We had four of them, hit them up on a lead! These forwards should also be working hard to actually lead towards the ball rather than waiting for easy ones over the back.

Gary Ayres could do a better job than Bailey, the message isnt sinking in, time to find a replacement, and we need a giant forward, i heard theres one in our own backyard, i thinks time for the club to take a risk and recruit Fevola, we have nothing to lose.

Malthouse is off the table isn't he? - committed to Pies next year. Kind of glad actually, 1 less topic for speculation for the next month or so.

Note: betting suspended

We have everything to lose. Don't be stupid. Fev did most of his work on a lead anyway. He'd be no better than Jurrah or Green.

Gary Ayers hahaha what is this the 90's. He's found his level.

Why does everyone predict the game to turn out exactly as it did (competitive start, beaten in the midfield, stretched down back, dysfunction forward line with minimal pressure, followed by Darwin related fade out) and then get so annoyed when it does.

Very hard to justify Deans spot as coach. Players ttill making the same crap decisions they were 2008. NO GAME PLAN, no accountability, forwardline does not lead, just try to take contested marks. Backline is not effective, how many times did Hawthorn players run into a vacant goal square and dribble one through.

At the end of the day, the coach is to blame for the failures on the field - I have a feeling that Dean is a ripping bloke but doesn't have any real ticker to lay it on the line to players.

if Ayres level is the VFL whats Baileys, he should be out coaching at Koo Wee Rup, hes the worst coach in the AFL by a country mile, we need a power forward, i think Baileys record speaks for itself.
