What we need now and next year as we get young players in our team to build around Pavlich, Sandilands and Mcpharlin etc. is players that show leadership and set the right example for our young players and support our new leaders like Hayden, Grover and Dodd. I think there are 4 senior players who set a terrible example on and off the field - Mark Johnson, Farmer, Solomon and Black.

I hope Farmer, Black and Johnson are all gone at the end of the year and I think Solomon should join them. Webster and Solomon play similar roles (Solomon pretty much took Webster's spot in the team) and if there is only 1 spot on the list Webster should take it.

If we were in premiership mode you would keep Solomon but we are not, and by 2010 Solomon at his age combined with his skill errors and poor decision making won't be in our best 22. Webster won't be in our best 22 in 2010 as well but I would rather keep him around to fill in next year than Solomon.

A few years ago Essendon had a huge discipline problem on the field with players always getting reported and giving away stupid free kicks and by getting their discarded players we have inherited all of these problems. Also remember Solomon got suspended in round 22 last year because of off the field problems.

This isn't just a over reaction to what happened on the weekend, I think the Ling incident was the final nail in the coffin, we just don't need someone like him around our football club.

Pfft, I like Solomon, hard nail in our lineup that we need. Webster isn't even in the same country when comparing the two. We'll keep Solomon until he "can't play good no more" and retires. To be honest, you need a few reports each year to keep the hardness up at the club. There was a stat a few years ago that Brisbane was one of the most reported teams during their threepeat. No surprise there.

Spot on ,Webster gone, not up to it ,Solly streets ahead.

Solly is one of the few players we can count on to give an honest contest every week. No way I would think of cutting him.

If you want on field leadership he sets the best example of all our senior players the way he puts his body on the line over and over again.

He's also a pretty good kick to forwards on the lead so I don't really understand where the 'skill errors' comment comes from. He's one of the few that seem to understand you have to put the ball out in front of a forward rather bombing it on top of their head.

So he gets suspended occasionally. That's the price you pay for having aggressive hardmen in your team. As long as it's for mistimed contests and not brain snaps (like Black) then I don't mind.

One of the very few trade success stories in recent history and you want to get rid of him. This bloke plays with more passion than some home-grown players. Considering the role he plays, I can see him playing for us for another 2-3 years, no worries.

I'd rather get rid of J Carr than Solly.

Mark Johnson sets a very good example off the field but "the game has gone past him" as they say and he should retire.
Solly should stay for next year but not sure where we'll be at if he's running around for us in 2010.
Jeffrey, sadly, is at the end and is probably one of our worst away game performers.
Black probably stays because he's in contract for 2009.

Solomon every day of the week.

The guy has a few brain explosions but remains one of our most consistent contributors and is probably our hardest player.

Webster for all his heart has never really cut it at the elite level for more than a few games in a row.

As much as I hate to say it Solomon is a better player.
The Duke's work is all quality but he probably just doesn't get enough ball.
Would like to see him get the call-up and play while Solly's out, see if he has anything left in the tank. His defensive pressure is usually excellent.

Solly by the length of South Terrace.

The guy has been brilliant for the club considering what we gave up. One of the best trades ever in our history.

It really matters very little. Neither of them should be getting much game time for the rest of their careers and should only be depth if they remain on the list. We already have a truckload of players who will be leaving, and may need to keep Solomon to make up the numbers.
