I've been one of the JOM bashers, but credit where credit is due, he's been playing really well over the past 3 or 4 games and has grown into the roles he's been given. For me, he's in the same boat as Fyfe - he's accepting that he needs to play a role and sacrifice his own game for team success.

He is absolutely neccesary if we are going to have September success IMO.

While he has never had finals success he just offers everything a team needs to be successful in finals footy. He's tough, he is always composed, has good skills and he finishes when he gets a look.

Loving Meek, thank you Freo, he’s a giant. I’m sure both players are glad to be home.
For the impact each player is having, you definitely won that trade, would have been even if it was a straight swap but us adding in the Bulldogs 2nd rounder put it in your favour. Glad to see Meek is doing so well

Thought I would bump this thread, but I can honestly say I don't think I've seen more disconnect between BF Fremantle fans and the rest of the fanbase than I have in recent time when it comes to O'Meara.

On here you'd think he was one of the worst players we have at times, that we'd be better off without him in the team, but pretty much everywhere else he's pretty universally loved and people think he's a great part of the team.

I personally think he's been very good in these first two games, you could argue he's been our best player honestly, I wouldn't say he is, but there's an argument for it. I think he provides some pretty good on-field leadership.

I was very critical of him in the first game as I felt, as an experienced player, he missed too many targets by hand and foot. He was no orphan of course but I , for one, expect more from him(others too). In saying that, he was much better this week , which leads to the discussion of where he should play. IMHO if he is selected then play him in the middle with stints in The forward line. As against trying to turn him into a winger.

I like JOM. He seems like a great guy from all accounts and good leader of our youngsters. He is a good utility that follows good opp players, is a good shot for goal, is dependable, and plays whatever role the coach asks him too. I am usually one on here that sticks up for him when others are pushing the kids to come in. My posting history reflects that.

However, what I saw first hand on Sunday was nearly every time he was in a stoppage or heavy congestion and received the ball, the first thing he did was turn back on himself before taking any other action. It usually meant he was suddenly faced with an opponent coming at him fast. As a result, he usually quickly handballed which too often that ended up in someone's stomach who also had opps bearing down on him leading to a tackle, loss of ball or further stoppage. As an example, this is the complete opposite of what onball star and inside mid Caleb Serong does who keeps moving forward, eyes off a target and hits them with a direct handpass.

Disagree with what I saw. No worries. Watch the replay if you are so adament about it to the extent that you put up this post and show me where I and others are so wrong other than a general vibe.

Agree fully. On the flip side he was just about our only mid winning the ball.
