It cant be Floss - Tone. Its a seems almost certainly a European name (cant figure out what region yet) but u would pronounce it the way its spelled. My guess is VLAS - TU - IN

It's a Dutch name and he said on SEN that it's pronounced Flosstone.

Morris and Vlastuin.
As you guys said; awesome!!!
I just can't wait until we become THE tackling crunching side the other sides don't want to come up against

I can just picture at a center bounce\ stoppage where an opposing mid gets first hands on the ball, Cotch wrapping him up, Morris going low & Vlas going high (all pouncing at once) & actually splitting a man in 3 diff parts :D

ill quote rumesh ratnayake who played cricket on the peninsula,

red muff super stuff!!!!

true story.

Lets hope he doesn't have one !! No offense to the ladies ;)

He said that but is that the aussie version of his name after yrs of his family being in this country? (dont know how long they've been here?)
Just asking the question as I doubt the spelling of his name & pronunciation could be so different

It's Floss-Tone.

Really pumped about Vlastuin.. Seems the safer option of him, menzel and grundy and watching the highlights, not sure why people were worried about his decision making and disposal - looks very neat and has an explosive first 3-4 steps.. Biggest criticism of him is his endurance, so his upside now that he is in ann AFL environment is actually very exciting... Nailed this pick.. Will be a better player than Ellis in my opinion based on decision making with the footy in hand and the way that the first thought after he disposes the ball is to block or sheppard... Awsome pick

Anatomically it shouldn't be possible; but what the heck, I like it

Welcome to Punt Road Nick and may your future include 250+ games for the RFC!

I haven't seen his highlight reel yet, but recall the media stating that apart from the endurance thing, his long distance kicking is work in progress.
Has any fellow Tigerheads seen Vlastuin play in any of the Under 18 Comp matches and provide feedback on his kicking skills over the entirity of a full game (as I am hoping the media are talking out of their ar$e again)?

Just got back from a run, boy isn't this the life at the GC! Had the headphones in plugged into the phone listening to SEN and they were talking to Stephen Wells. Asked him outside the player he got, who would he select if he could. Just one player.

He said Troy Menzel. This will be the decision that could haunt us. Welcome to Nick, but will watch with interest.

Footy aside, just glad to see we continue to add to our already strong stocks of gingas. Connors being a dill left us short but balance has now been restored.

Fear can come in many forms. We know the blues fear the RED! More fire around the pill can only be good for us.

Quote from HUN today:

Top-10 predictions changed by the day but Richmond was always a lock for red-headed hard-nut Nick Vlastuin.

Vlastuin, likened to Hawthorn's Brad Sewell, became a Tiger at pick No.9 and fits the Damien Hardwick mantra of solid citizen and fierce competitor.

The 187cm Northern Knights midfield-defender captained the Vic Metro state side and was rated one of the best clearance players in the TAC Cup.

I like the Brad Sewell comparison: Tough, clearance machine. Will be very happy if he can get to this level!

LOL. Twilight

Happy to have vlastuin a tiger.

btw i'm over reading about how we didn't get grundy. Learn to hate guys, as he is a pie now!

Funny how people who watched Vlastuin all year and years before were all for getting him at 9, when the naysayers were those who had watched his unimpressive highlights package on the AFL website. Now that there's a more impressive highlights package up on the RFC website plenty of people are changing their tune. I guess that's a good thing! Welcome Flossy! :D

Personally I'm happy to back O'Hanlon.
I'm not disappointed we passed on Menzel. Grundy is the one I'll watch nervously
One more good draft and trade period (hi Dom) and I reckon we are set to give this a real shake

Really fills a need....

Cotch, Lids, Martin, Foley, Conca, Ellis, Tuck, Vlaustin!!!!!!!!!

Imagine if Arnott turns out to be the goods...our midfield will be the hardest running around.

COME AT ME BRO!!!!

Welcome Tigger. Guessing most have looked at his highlights reel on the Tigers site. Check out the 0:50 sec mark when he crunches someone with the ball. Going to be fun watching the bash brothers in Morris and Vlastuin in tandem this year :thumbsu:

Tackling with a bump, remind you of another famous tiger? Can't wait to see him run through someone like that in Round1...

Real keen on this pick in hindsight, reckon if he has a solid pre season he'd slot straight in the half back-midfield rotations.

O'Hanlon isn't in the same hemisphere as Menzel. Also Menzel will play midfield and go forward to dominate. There was two top 5 talents on the board (3 if you can count Garlett, but very understandable why everyone passed in the end, shocking stories coming out, may not even get rookied now) and we went against that. Both Menzel and Grundy worry me in the future.

No doubt we got a very good player in Vlastuin, as I said all along, we won't get a bad one, I will just be interested in the careers of Menzel and Grundy. Round One Vlastuin vs Menzel is something to look forward too.
