am surprised by that. he was one of the better QLD lads at the champs a few years ago and was pretty sure he would go but I think his testing let him down a bit. He just didnt look quick and have a recollection he wasnt as quick as those around him. He accumulates a lot of ball and was a high possession winner for QLD and is a very good ball user though and remember him well kicking a few goals. There just wasnt that standout factor that pushed him up. He played last year as a 19yo and again looked really good but maybe expected bit more as a 19yo. Also seen him in the local comp and he just has a bit of class written on him but the only knock I would have is his speed. Certainly has that class though.

Northern Conference Round 3 Preview
By Peter Blucher
Redland coach Greg Seton Lonsdale has identified local product Adam Oxley as a likely mature-age AFL draftee after a breakout seven-goal effort against Mt.Gravatt last weekend.
Seton Lonsdale points to the Brisbane Lions’ selection of Gold Coaster Dayne Zorko at 22 last November as the perfect example for Oxley, who has been overlooked by AFL scouts the last two years.
“He (Oxley) is a much better player now that he was even last year and he’s certainly not too old,” Seton Lonsdale said of the 187cm utility who will turn 20 in November.
“He did a massive pre-season and he’s taken a real step up in his training and attitude. He’s certainly one for the recruiters to follow.
“He’s given himself every opportunity because he’s got all the skills, he’s a good height, he plays both ends and last weekend he showed he’s got good footy smarts.”
Seton Lonsdale has used Oxley, who debuted at Redland as a 16-year-old in 2009, at both ends of the ground in the first two rounds of the NEAFL.
“We were a bit short down back in Round 1 so we played him in defence, and then last weekend went moved him forward again and he was outstanding.
“He used his footy smarts really well to make sure he got to the right spot to get the footy without doing a lot of needless running. It was a real breakout game for him and I hope he keeps going because there’s a lot to like about the way he plays.
“Zorko missed out year after year but kept working hard and finally got his chance. There’s no reason Adam (Oxley) can’t do the same thing if he keeps playing like he did last weekend, and the same thing goes for other guys not taken at the traditional U18 level.”
Oxley, a 2010-11 Queensland U18 representative who has played 19 senior games at Redland over four years, won the Round 2 Rising Star nomination for the NEAFL Northern Conference.
He will get the chance to show AFL scouts he can consistently reproduce top form in the NEAFL Round 3 clash with Aspley at Victoria Point tomorrow, when both sides will be looking to post their second win of the season.

He's looks fairly light but he is a good height. Sounds like Hine and co have him earmarked for a wing. Interesting to hear his comments that he feels we could have a very powerful set of long kicking wingers that compliment each other with the left footed Young on one side and Oxley the right footer on the other.
