Even though tonight is a disappointing result, the boys have defied expectation in 2009.

The emergence of Tippett, Dangerfield, Ottens, Walker, Mackay ect have laid the foundations for years of success.

Well done boys and lets look forward to greater success in 2010 :thumbsu:

Yay, some sane supporters! You can add Vince to that list, he was exceptional tonight. Sure we should've won, got robbed, what ever you call it. Can't do much about it now. Bring on next season!

****ing shattered :(

The positive is, it generally wasn't the younger guys who let us down massively; we have good players struggling to get into the side, serious questions need to be asked about a number of players (Stevens/Shirley/Burton/Hentschel) if we want to be a team that wins finals. I'm not saying they should be delisted, but they might need to be viewed as depth players.

Should've never lost that, but the fightback was pleasing at least :o

I thopught Stevens was certainly not our worst player...did some very good things throughout the game.

Oh well done indeed!

Another opportunity wasted. Another year passes. Another soul-destroying finals choke.

Many positives this season.
I thought that the youngsters were the highlight of our year.
Still think had we pinched it tonight we could have gone all the way, but instead we allowed Collingwood to get back into the game.

Have to say that it was one of the most intense finals games for many years.

Here`s to a big future for the Crows.

Oh yeah.... Congrats Pies.

A lot to look forward to for Crows fans. I've loved watching the way Dangerfield and Tippett have done about it this year. Adelaide has been my favorite side to watch as a neutral, and there is no doubt they will be top 3 next year.

Tough loss to cop, but it was one hell of a contest - see you in '10

I agree. At the start of this year i told my wife and daughter we may not be singing the club song too many times this year. I agree that we have exceeded all expectations this year but make no mistake that the pressure will be on next year to peform.

Fir starters walker must come in fir burton. Unless bird man can have a decent pee season and get the fitness back to where it was pre injury.

Walker must play all year alongside Tippett.

u guys shuda won, the call in the last few seconds was disgusting.
i wanted to see collingwood knocked out in straight sets :thumbsd:

Sting won't go away for a while, but you guys will be back bigger and better next year, top 4 finish beckons.

Its a very disappointing end to what has, when you think about it logically, been a pretty good year. As others have said we have unearthed a lot of top level young talent this year, and they will only get better. We have another 3-5 top line players coming through too. I think if anyone was asked at the beggining of the season where we would finish, the answer wouldnt have been higher than 5th. This has been and always was going to be a development year for us, and the opportunities to win flags, not just finals will be there over the next 3-5 seasons. I think with the aging elite players of Geelong, St.Kilda and the Bullies only getting older, we are well placed to become one of the powerhouse teams going forward. Experiences like tonights game will make us stronger. We were far from embarrased, and I rate Collingwood highly. Basically the result came down to who was lucky enough to be in front when the siren went.

Go Crows in 2010!!

Made some clangers, did some very nice things too (runs, big marks). Not our worst on the day.

I think you should avail yourself of the opportunity to support a different club which has a culture more in tune with your liking to sink the boots in.

Im am so proud of this club, proud of the team and cannot wait for next year.

Pressure builds diamonds and wat doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

There are currently 4 sides better than us - there are 11 worse.

It will be a long 2 weeks. After your beloved team loses in the finals you just feel as if you want to escape from football for a long while. I'd like to put myself in a self imposed coma for 3 weeks.

The Cricket doesn't look too promising, and I am not very fond of summer, so I guess the only thing I'll be looking towards is the Aus Open tennis.

Stevens????

I must have been watching a different match.Certainly in our top half dozen players and unlike a few others his was a four quarter effort.

This is not trolling...

Congrats to ALL the crows fans who made the trip over, i know it's tough, but the atmosphere at the 'G tonight was unreal.

Good luck for next year.

Shattered doesn't even begin to describe how I feel.... god the neighbours must think there was a murder committed with the painful screams of defeat coming from our house tonight

Tippett, Mackay, Vince, Otten, Dangerfield and Porplyzia all showed that they can play finals football and that is a great thing going forward!

This is the really good thing to come out of the evening. Add Knights to that list until he got hurt. :thumbsu:

All of these lads showed that they're capable of playing at the very highest level under the greatest pressure, and if some of our veterans e.g. Burton, McLeod and Hentschel had played as well we wouldn't have lost. Edwards got a lot of it but his use of the ball was ordinary at times.

IMO the club has to, and probably will, have another look as to whether it allows all of its 5 players aged 30 or more to go on. or at least suggest they have another look at it as to whether they go on or not.

We have to make room for Walker, Davis and McKernan next year, which puts a question mark against Burton and Hentschel, with the greatest question mark on Burton IMO.

Shirley had a good first half against Didak, but lost him in the 2nd half. Sloane and Cook will be pressing for spots, so Shirley will be under pressure as well.

IMO Edwards should consider retirement as well while we remember him as a great player. He had a magnificent first two thirds of the year, but in the last few weeks he has lost a lot of mobility and flexibility and is starting to get caught a bit or making disposal clangers

Goodwin, McLeod and Hentschel would be my 3 to go on, but I'd be trying to get Edwards, Burton and Shirley into retirement before they end up embarrassing themselves.

Great game tonight, could have gone either way. I dont think we deserved to win TBH.

Tippet/Danger/Mackay/Vince are absolute stars, can only go up from here..

Hentschell, Burton and McLeod for mine.

Otten to midfield, Davis to third tall.

Walker and McKernan to forward line.

All speculative of course. Time will tell!

... and to their supporters.

Going through all the threads in the last week, it was apparent that most of the Crows posters were calling it a 50/50 chance which it was.

I honestly didn't feel that there was any arrogance displayed, and in fact I thought most were quite humble.

To the posters who came over to the Pies board and congratulate us after such a heart breaking loss ... respect.

Good luck next year, you guys are a quality team...
