Has to happen doesn't it..

Might not have the pace to stay with him.. but will hurt him just as bad and make him earn the hard ball..

Thought?

I don't think you can label Welsh a judd stopper just yet, as last time they played on each other Judd was concussed.

Your best option (if ryder is winning the ruck) is to roll the dice and put Lovett on him and run off. Or get a carlton player to break his nose.

Essendon's best chance is to play to your strength of fast break footy, speed is an area that you have us covered in.

Should be a great match....85,000, exciting brand of footy, both teams can win, top 8 possie on the line.

Because it's Judd we should rotate players on him rather than exhaust one.

Welsh is the obvious choice but Reimers should be given a go as well.

Welsh couldn't run with him all game but in spurts he will match up for sure. Hocking is another who has good endurance, will be his hardest task to date though so I is a tough ask.

As Kruezering said our best option is to hurt him the other way like we did with McVeigh the last couple of times, Lovett would be ideal but I say he'll be tagged no matter what, perhaps Stanton?

Oh God Im getting Brent Harvey nightmares.

Judd's an ultra hard player to tag. He does everything for Carlton, winning clearances then the next second he's up near HF bursting into space. I'd put someone like Watson head to head with Judd, make Judd think when leaving Watson at a centre bounce. The likes of Murphy, Gibbs, etc don't win a heap of clearances so that could be one way to stop their counter attacks. Some of our other players need to give him little bumps off the ball also, letting him run freely the whole match with the space available on the wings is asking for trouble.

No point trying to tag Judd. Can't be done.

Let's focus on tagging the likes of Gibbs, Murphy, Stevens (LOLzorz) etc. Judd can't do it all on his own.

Yes it can. You can't stop him getting the footy but you can severely limit his effectiveness when he does get it by tagging him.

This is what GOD had to say about it -

“We’re a team who likes to attack and run and carry and have the ball in our hands, but so do Carlton, they’ve got some gun midfielders, Judd, Stevens, Murphy, Gibbs, Scotland. We can’t tag them all, we’ll be looking for our guys to be accountable for their player – especially Judd," he said.

“Andrew Welsh’s first game back was terrific last week and provides a good spirit for us, he potentially will be a match up."

Welsh has to go to Judd in my opinion. If he can nullify him it will go a long way to us winning the game. Please do it Knighta!

Absolutely spot on. I don't care if he still has 25 possiesions as long as those possesions are not so damaging. I really think Welsh can do this for us.

I've got massive doubts over that match-up. If Welsh is assigned tagging duties to Judd, how in the hell will he keep up with him for three or four quarters? It's only his second game back, I think it's a bit much to ask personally.

Before last weeks game i would have agreed with you. The guy is a freak and has come back fitter than most would with the same injury due to his dedication. Atleast start him on Judd and see how he goes. If he starts to tire i'm sure a move can be made.

Nat-Rat knows what he has to do...

Yes he does and he will if given the opportunity. :D

Fitness & match fitness are two completely different things JimBob.

O'Donnell admits the loss of Mark McVeigh (suspension) and Adam McPhee (leg injury) will hurt but added that their replacements in Henry Slattery’s and Nathan Lovett-Murray can have an impact on the game.

So does O'Donnell. :D:thumbsu:

Judd's the main man, Judd's the man that gets tagged.

Yep, he's a hard bloke to stop, but that doesn't mean taggers don't play a huge role in limiting effectiveness.

I don't want to think what will happen if we have an attacking weapon going head to head with him. He'd rip us to shreds.

As long as Judd gets stopped then I'm fine.

I would perfer a fist to Judd's head instead :D

But seriously, I think the best thing to do to stop Carlton is to stop Fevola.
