Opinion We're calling it now season over

We are no certainty to beat Richmond and at this point, we would go into the Gold Coast clash away as underdogs after the bye.

Then we play West Coast, Collingwood, Geelong and Freo away.

We may not win another game until the showdown and they are always 50/50 games.

Realistically you'd give it next game vs Richmond. Win and we're 6-6 going into the bye. Regather, regroup and have a crack at the second half of the season. Lose though, you'd say we are gone and a few players will need to have a line put through their name.

That said, Lyons should be playing regardless.

We are not going to beat Richmond, we will be lucky if we dont loose to Gold Coast.
This season is over. We are not going to make the finals and we dont deserve to be in them.
Try and keep what little dignity we have left people.

credit to the optimists who think we a still a chance.
but seriously we are so far off the pace it isn't funny, Christ we lost to port, we just don't have enough talent on our list. its time for reality.

They were saying that our premiership window has slammed shut this morning on another network

Wish we had a smart administration. Our CEO is an ex PE teacher, cum marketing manger who made the biggest f up in our history but didn't get sacked. Our COO is an ex player with minimal commercial experience but an ex player so he gets the job. Sydney are a glimpse of what we could have been. Smart, decisive, and always competitive - we are good periodically despite the safe, timid culture that has pervaded since as long as I can remember. A 15yr gap between flags isn't good enough for a club with our resources and supporter base. Not proud.
 Huhh ....you obviously live in Adelaide .....rose colored glasses

We've had same membership since intro to league an have been well & truly overtaken in both members & resources

We once stated we wanted to be innovators :p ........yep plenty of evidence of that too

Lets face it ...the club is a middle of the road club ....It's held back by being in Adelaide and refuses to market the club to the masses that live interstate to expand its membership

It's conservative by nature ...and conservative in its goals

our window doesn't open & shut base on one win o r one loss .....we've had injuries and we lost our 2 KPF ....WTF do people think will happen, business as usual

I said infinitum PS you can't lose all the talls we have and not expect repurcussions....i was howled down

Can still make the finals, but might not have this same view if we lose to Richmond. Certainly not a contender though, so far off in that aspect.

WC losing today would help.

Trade;

Reilly
Mackay
Otten
Van Berlo

Consider trading Vince.
been saying this all season

Only other trade possibility of those you mention is Otten .......none off the others will be traded and you can quote me

What has losing to Port got to do with anything? Essendon lost to Brisbane, are they not finals contenders?

I had us down as winning one of the the Freo/North/Swans/Richmond games, and still winning 12 games. I thought the win would be Freo.

However the way in which we were destroyed and humiliated by the Swans makes me think we are not good enough this year. I will be keen on seeing what the response is next week. Particularly as I am going over.....I love the G.

I reckon we can beat Richmond next week, Adelaide in the past has always responded after a bad loss, I can't see why this week would be different. It may be, but there is not much evidence to suggest it will.

I thought about going to this game, but after last night, I'll save my money!

GC at Metricon is no gimme game either after the bye.

I'm sure you're right mate, but they should be looked at.

All have value on the trade market, but all have massive deficiencies in that game that make them dispensable.

Gold Coast game will be interesting. Saw a bit of them last night at the pub and yeah they look good.

If we are a genuinely bad bottom 8 side we will get beaten by them.

What has losing to Port got to do with anything?
The way we collectively dropped our strides and spread our cheeks that night spoke volumes to me.

There's no doubt that Sydney showed us just how far off the mark we are when it comes to winning the premiership. However, it was the first game of the season where I genuinely felt that the Crows were out-classed. Sure, we've lost every one of our games against the top-8 teams, but in none of them did I feel that Adelaide were out-classed. Heck, I actually felt that Adelaide were better than Fremantle and that they deserved to win that game (and would have but for some seriously awful kicking for goal).

Let's be clear about this - Adelaide cannot win the premiership this year.

Adelaide can still make the 8, a distinct possibility given our remaining draw. Yes, we would only be making up the numbers if we were to qualify for September. The upside would be giving our younger players exposure to finals football. It's not as if we have any incentive to fail, given that we won't have any picks in the 1st & 2nd rounds anyway.

I live in Sydney. If resources are the issue it's even more of an indictment on our muppet show administration.

Yeah agree with that. The only way we can improve is from within and considering 20% of our list is either nearing retirement or not AFL standard its going to be awhile since our window opens again.
