Good friend on Tigers Payroll. Will be reported in the news over the next couple of days he said. He has no idea what the meeting is for - he's not a senior official, just an admin assistant.

This leaves us to speculate what these talks will be about.

Very interesting. I wonder if they are considering a Veale type deal in case Carlton refuse to give up pick 1. Tigers trade pick 2, pick 19 plus a good player, for a decent player who is finding it tough to break into the Eagles line up. In return, the Eagles promise not to deal with the Blues and Tigers pick him up in the PSD.

He said Judd can't put a 2mill over 5 year deal on the table. If he does then the Blues have to pay it and effectively they won't be able to pay guys like Murphy, Gibbs, Fev, Kruezer, etc and fit them in the salary cap when contract renewals come up. This makes sense, I think.

What I find amazing is blues' supporters who keep posting the Eagles will be bending over in this deal. They must think a top side like the Eagles are stupid. They are seriously underestimating this situation.

Of course, they may be meeting for another separate issue/trade. But I doubt it. Something is brewing and I think we will see some big headlines come trade day. I will be laughing for a long time if Carlton get greedy and lose the lot during trade week.

I'll probly agree with the others that its about morton.
But that wont mean the tiges wont talk about judd well they have the chance.
Guess we'll find out come trade week.

When you say 'lose the lot' during trade week, do you mean lose Judd? Because we either get Judd and give up some picks, or we don't get him and we keep some pretty decent draft picks.
I don't know how that equates to 'losing the lot'.

No, he meant "lose the plot", because that is what all the Carlton supporters that have been counting their chickens will do...

Can you imagine the Carlton supporters when Judd wants to come to your club but doesn't get there...

They'll be absolutely livid.

Exactly. If Judd was coming the the Hawks, it's only reasonable he is worth pick 1 and the rest. After all, picks in the draft are speculative. They are kids and there is no guarantee how good they will get. You can go through quite a list of top 5 picks over the years to see how many turned out pretty average and some not at all.

But the Blues want Judd AND their pick 1. There is no more arrogant club than Carlton. Big mouths when they are stuck at the bottom of the ladder and big mouths when they rise. The Elliott culture is still well and truly there, just under a different name.

Very dangerous as Carlton would just price his contract out of the ball park for Richmond.
But, I wouldn't be surprised to see Richmond with Carltons Pick 3 and passing on Judd in the PSD.

If the Blues and WCE play nice, Richmond won't have a role to play in the Judd saga but if they can't work it out I reckon both clubs, and maybe a 3rd, will be knocking on our door in the hopes of tempting us to help one side or the other.

If it comes to that then the fun and games will begin. Do we work with WCE to land Judd in the PSD, or do we publically commit to another player as PSD pick #1 so that Carlton can then screw WCE blindly ? or do we agree to trade pick two for a couple of good KPP from Eddie ?

The options are limitless but it will all boil down to whether WCE and Carlton can come to an agreement that will help both clubs and appease their members.

Yeh, some will be livid, but in when they think about it in the cool light of day it won't be the end of the world.
Sure I'll be upset that we aren't getting the best midfielder going around but the fact that we will be getting two of the best youngsters in the land will ease the pain somewhat.....eventually :)

Don't get me wrong, I will be pissed if we don't get Judd, but there is no point in being arrogant about it and assuming that he is signed sealed and delivered just yet.

Sorry to say it but Richmond supporters are kidding themselves over Judd.

Fact

(1) Carlton has so much spare room within the cap that they were going to have to pay some players front loading contracts just to hit the min amount of the salary cap, therefore if Judd goes to PSD they will pay him approx 2.6 million for year 1. Front load year 2 as well and then dramatically reduce years 3, 4 and 5 to pay all our up coming kids.
Carlton also know that Richmond cannot afford 2.6 million in 2008 therefore this situation rests with West Coast to do the following.

(1) Trade with Carlton for a reasonable deal
(2) Get nothing
(3) They cant trade with anyone elese as Judd has to agree and he won't

Therefore West Coast need to think carefully or father christmas might not stop in perth this year.

We may decide that having Judd at Richmond, with his salary demands and the fact that a) he didn't really want to be there and b) we don't know how his groin will pull up, might not be in the best interest of the club. Instead we end up with picks 2,3,17,18 in this draft and possibly kennedy from the Blues.

I started a similar thread earlier today predicting this would happen...i think the Player will be Coughlan.

Richmond Lose:

2, 19 & Coughlan

Richond Gain:

Morton & Judd (Pick #1 in PSD)

l don't think you understand as much as we would love Judd we are not willing to give up pick 1, Carlton are clearly willing to give up pick 3 & another pick &player, it is very unlikely ANY club is in position to do better or act in a responsible manner for their club and not sell the farm for one player.

l am quite sure if your club was in the same position your opinion would be quite different, and also what you are suggesting will not happen, why would Richmond want to give picks & players when they would hoping that Judd would fall to the pre-season draft for nothing, what you are suggesting is not logical from a Richmond viewpoint.

Yeah your right in a way...but if they can under cut carlton to get the deal done before the PSD...westcoast will take it.

Pick #2 >>> Pick #3
Pick #19 >>> Pick #20
Coughlan (When Fit, proven AFL quality) >>> Kennedy
