West Coast - When will the AFL step in?

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

Lol. This post reeks of bitter jealousy of a club with a history you would love your club to have.

Reeks of it.

We don't want priority picks.

A couple of extra rookie spots isn't asking too much is it? Add some more mature talent to steady the ship?

Just want the AFL to stop assisting finals teams and the reigning premiers getting free hits every year.
Steady on, if we were talking another club with a similar laundry list i'd have a crack too.

Most people assume we're talking priority pick anywhere from numero uno to end of first round, hence the reaction.

If you're talking an extra couple of rookie slots, or maybe a 4th or 5th rounder, it's a different story.

touch a nerve did I
even your premiership coach couldn't see out the season
Not at all just poking holes in your statements.

You've raided us over the last 12 months. Taken 2 senior players
Head Coach
List manager

and Richmond has the shit culture? Strange statement to make when the AFL is considering stepping in to help your helpless club.

Freo are set up for a run at success. They've built a quality list.

You've built a pile of shit, and haven't even realised it yet. 2026 and 2027 will be another set of excuse of why WC find themselves where they are now, at bottom of the ladder.

fragile much

WC have been penalized for loyalty and valuing their champion players

Unfortunately, the current system rewards failure and mediocrity

Freo are the perfect example. Endless high draft picks for lowly finishes and having more players than any club in the league walk out of the club
their list is a direct result of their Culture of Failure

It really is wrong on every level

Did you read my post? I will explain this word : equalization.

Again the key word here is equalization.

Eagles were not punished for staying loyal to their players, they got "punished" for not finishing bottom 4 or bottom 6 for many years in a row.

Again... Let me explain....

Eagles made finals for 6 years straight from 2015 to 2020....

Now.... How many top 10 picks did west coast have in each year eagles made finals from 2015 to 2020? None.

So if the eagles make top 8 or make finals, that means west coast finished above 10 sides. So no top 10 picks.

If you wanna add the 2 seasons your club didn't make finals, which was 2014 and 2021. Both years eagles finished 9th. Yet both of those years they got like pick 11 or pick 12 in 2014 and 2021 due to various picks. We got free agency compo picks, father son picks, priority picks next generation academy picks and NSW or Queensland academy picks.

So from 2014 to 2021, West coast eagles didn't get one top 10 pick.

Again ..... The eagles got "punished" for consistently making finals

you started the shit fight and now are having a massive sook

cry harder
So if a Fremantle supporter comes in and talk about your clubs decline and rebuild, you take it as a personal attack and so the same thing and fight back.

Read my post again.... Eagles were not "punished" for staying loyal to their players, they were "punished" for making finals or staying on the upper end of the ladder for a few years in a row.

I dont Think the tigers poster you quoted cares.

I don't think the tigers are still upset over Damien Hardwick leaving the club. Dimma got 3 flag in 2017, 2019 and 2020 out of that playing list.

I doubt that Geelong fans are still bitter with Mark Bomber Thompson leaving the cats at the end of 2010 after those 2007 and 2009 flags were won.

I don't think eagles fans hate Adam Simpson after 10 years of service and a flag 2018 at the end .

I don't think Eagles fans are upset with John Worsfold after 10 years as a coach and a flag in 2006.

show me where I was replying to you ?
I was making a general observation

Why?

I got banned from many eagles threads on the main board here for telling the truth.

I said that the eagles 2022 squad was an ageing and beaten down squad.

I also got told by certain posters that the eagles are never down for long.... And look where we at now?

2025..... If the eagles don't make finals In 2025, it's the 1st time in history they don't make finals for 5 seasons in a row .
Lol some people on an Internet forum didn't appreciate me, therefore the football club deserves nothing 🤣

Buddy... cmon'

Aren't they still using a huge chunk of their soft cap paying Simmo (and presumably others) not to work for them anymore?

Adelaide's football department resembled an SANFL team in 2020 when we were still paying the contracts of Pyke, Camporeale and Brett Burton, which left very little room to bring anyone in.

Once that gets freed up they can start at least getting their off field sorted.
All good points - i think there needs to be a massive soft-cap increase overall. We're barely back to being where we were pre-covid.

Really hard to attract top coaching talent to a poor performing club on the other side of the country if you can't make it financially appealing.

You'd know all about that.

Barrass- Gone
Allen- Gone
Reid- Likely Gone
Darling- Gone
Rioli- Gone
Barrass, Allen & Darling pushed out

Rioli smoked pot and wanted to be closer to family.

Reid about to sign a mega-deal

WCE have never really had issues retaining the players they want to keep & have had a player first mentality for a long time. In the end it was probably to our detriment - It's why we didn't have a top 10 pick for 10+years. We probably should have moved some players on to refresh the list ~2020, but hung on too long and only now encouraging players on (see barrass, Allen and Darling)

Remember the 3 year period 2021 to 2023 when Eagles fans kept telling everyone it was an injury crisis and all would come good once they got the band back together.

At the same time they kept handing out contract extensions to blokes who everyone else knew were absolutely cooked.

Then it was don't worry we never stay down long.

Lots of bathwater was drunk after 2018.

Then it was "we win a flag every decade". We are so rich!

Well that ain't happening this decade

I actually thought they could win a flag by 2030

No, we took them to add leadership.

Not even remotely the same thing.
Was badly needed. And why Grahams homophobic slur was so disappointing from that perspective.

But they’ve also been in your top handful of players this year. I would have loved to have kept Graham because he sets standards on the training track, but I’m not sure he’d be a walk up start in the midfield for us anymore.
