Round 3 vs Geelong, both teams undefeated. Loss
Round 5 vs Hawthorn, 4th vs 5th, both sides 4 - 1. Loss
Round 8 vs Freo, 5th vs 6th, both sides 5 - 2. Tie

So far, we've failed to rise to the occasion against other top 4 aspirants.

We've got another 2 big tests coming up in Collingwood & Essendon. We really should be winning both of these matches if we're aiming for another crack at the premiership. Lose both and we're in a bit of trouble.

If I had to choose, I'd prefer to see us beat Collingwood at the G' rather than the Bombers in Sydney.

The teams we've beaten so far are ranked 11th, 13th, 14th, 15th and 18th. We need to beat a top 8 side first, then worry about top 4

The real worry is the team we're able to put on the park. An almost completely new backline that's sorely missing LRT, Johnson and Shaw, which has destabilised everything else. Tippett might help when he arrives but our real problems are elsewhere.

Another worry is that 2 out of the 3 players you listed there are at the wrong ends of their careers so pretty soon we will be doing without both of them.

I don't think we will have Shaw and LRT back until the port game after the break just so they heal up properly and with Tippett coming in then we will being trying to have a big second half to the year

Yeah, that's about the size of it.

You can't write them off because of the strength of the club culture, but that's what we're facing - "trying" to re-discover the spark and form of last year when everyone's back on deck.

I still think AJ going down in the pre-season was an omen.

I think with Tippett coming in we can cover AJ with LRT no worries but while there both out its just such a big hole in the backline , also Shaw hurts being out we lose that run of HB and he runs the show down back , we just gotta get through the nexted 3 weeks we cant afford to drop all 3 otherwise its to much of an ask to make up for it in the 2nd half of the year to make top 4

If we want to be a premiership threat we need to win at least one of the next 2 games.

Nah we just need to finish top 4

Exactly. Tippett is good but he is not the answer to our prayers. Tippett isn't going to improve the other 21 players effort and skill levels.

We don't need him to. He fills a structural hole. If he turns it on and has a day out, great.

We need him to deliver on the cash he costs though

I just checked and this is Tippett's output last year

21 games
0 goal games - 5
1 goal games - 6
2 goal games - 2
3 goal games - 4
4 goal games - 3
5 goal games - 1

So essentially for 50% of games Kurt Tippett will kick one or less goals.

How many was he concussed in though?

Im not saying that Tippett is Mr fix it and never have I said that , when we drafted him I watched a lot of his games and your right he is no Barry hall or Cloke , but I think horse coaching him to play that key forward role he will be a better player for us than he was at the Crows , what im saying is tippett coming in he takes LRTs spot FWD and LRT takes AJs spot down back

Agree with that and i think we saw in the crows prelim what he can do, he should be peaking.

Im more desperate to get LRT and shaw back at the moment

We won the flag last year without a recognised forward line, it was all because our backline was so good. We don't need Tippett to kick us a winning score. He'll just fill a hole up front and allow someone else to play elsewhere.

Maybe Reid can go down back and find a bit of form. Our real problem is filling the huge hole left by AJ.

LRT will fill AJs role with out a doubt its just while they are both out its taking its tole , I don't no who is better suited taking that 3rd tall down back atm while they are both out , Everitt , Walsh ,but coming up against Pies , Dons which the Dons are a very big FWD line were gonna have to go with 1 of them who I don't no cause we cant let what the Hawks did to us
