No doubt Tess MMs time will come sooner rather than later but who steps in? Do we go with un untried assistant or do you feel a current or past senior coach would fit the bill?
You stated that after 2004 he should have gone but do you beleive the playing list since then has been good enough to be more successful with another coach at the helm or not? I dont beleive we could have done any better personally but not in any way saying your opinion is wrong either.

I've never played footy but I have been around a few Clubs and players. After the 2003 result MM has done wonders, but I never ever thought he could snare us a Premiership while any of the class of 2003 was there or had touched the next generation of players. What happened in 2003 for whatever reason it happened, a team/club can't just get up dust itself off and move on without some blood letting at the top . . . . something we never did.

Look I really thought too much damage was done with the 2003 Grand Final demolition for MM to get bring things back from the edge, but to his credit he tried and tried but sooner or later every coaches time ends. I said as much at the time.

you are 100% correct! i can not for the life of me understand why anyone is against MM.. look at our list in all seriousness, it is so young and under developed. we are about 2 years off being a powerhouse, but i can assure you we are on the way. if we didnt have MM, we would be nothing more than richmond making up excuses to why we never play finals!

Then Mark x2 said something about turning on MM and I explained I had felt this way since at least 2004 as most of ya know.

Now OK I am not paid to speak on behalf of Collingwood Supporters and I don't presume to, I was asked my opinion and I gave it as TESS as I always do. In 06 we under acheived massively. Thats one year every other year there has been circumstances that mean our resulst arnt terrible.



With many radio callers i turn them off they agitate me and annoy me i know they arnt members if they are they are spinless worms who would never say a thing when it mattered, usuakky they are bandwagoners.

It takes all types to make up a supporter group, more so when it's as large as ours, I offered a PERSONAL View to a radio station and I am at the moment having the equivalent of being stoned by the masses as some sort of herratic.

Sorry but I don't think MM is a Genius.

Oh and I didn't sit waiting to see what others said as I had my ugg boots on like a good Pies supporter does and was outside the Broadmeadows Shopping Centre and was going shopping!

This is the wrong question. It’s a bit cart before the horse. First off you have to assemble the list. Ok let’s ignore this fundamental. I’d say Roos and Mathews of the coaches with exposed form and it’s hard not be impressed with Clarkson at this point.

Personally though I think it is time to find the next Mathews or Roos. Maybe that’s Buckley, maybe it is Brad Scott or maybe someone else. Let’s say we get it wrong though. Will it cost a flag? IMO no. So we have something to gain and all we have to lose is mid range draft picks. Like it or not (and I don’t) if you F up and appoint a muppet you get a better list as a reward. If we stay with what we have we will keep getting what we have got.

Mark Williams? Jesus who would have done a worse job of the 2003 GF? Selection, tactics and reactions were about as poor as you could imagine. I honestly think we missed Laidley badly in 2003. It is not really the issue now anyway. What’s important now is 2009. 2003 was 5 seasons of no premierships ago. Even if MM was the best coach in comp back then he may have been passed usurped or he may just have worn off. Hell, in 2003 Mathews was considered peerless and he has already walked. Admittedly he didn’t get the results MM got but the reality is we have finished 13th, 15th, 7th, 4th and 6th since 2003. That’s not exactly earth shattering stuff.

I don’t think we tanked but lets leave that aside. Our 2005 season was well and truly ruined before the injury excuse became available to be use 18 times at AGM.

Herein lies the problem. I am not interested in not being terrible I am interested in winning premierships. We can make excuses for much of the last 50 years and for as long as we do we will not win premierships and the plural is not accidental by any means.

Our season was shot before Didak and Shaw x 2 got pissed. It is just another excuse in reality.
