Look on the bright side. Rama can keep on playing. But yes i think we are screwed, i thought we could do a lot of damage if we had our full team in this year, but would fall away quickly if we had a few injuries. Younger guys have to step up now.

this is a good time to bring in youre young players who have been knocking on the door they might just suprise you

A broken arm, torn calf, reports, no bench, yep, when the shit hits the fan it's time to start ducking. :( Last night was one off them nights.

Davey isn't out for the season just yet, people have a habit of overreacting to arm injuries.

Arms are much less severe than legs as they don't carry the weight of the body. If it's not as bad as first thought, it could be only 6 weeks. If it is, it could only be 8 weeks still. Fibreglass protectors have allowed players to return much quicker than expected, Lloyd and Peverill have each returned from broken arms in 4 weeks.

A real shame bout Alwyn! Im Shattered! He has been a fantastic player for us this season! He will go onto the long term injury list. Dean Dick your time has come!

Dean hasnt even returned to playing for Bendigo yet after his shoulder injury.

I'm trying to pull the positives out from last night:

- I like the way Hislop goes about his footy.
- With a long-term injury to Davey, Neagle can be re-promoted without sacrificing Rama.
- There's now plenty of opportunity to look at blooding some new players: eg, Neagle, Gumby, Houli.
- Some players fighting for their AFL careers can now put their hands up (eg, Bradley, Johns, Cole).

John Barnes had the same injury and missed 9 weeks.

Lloyd and Pev broke the bone in their lower arm, Davey pretty much shattered the bone in his upper arm.

SUB-THREAD - Does anyone think our season is all but over or we're capable of 4 - 5 more wins to cement our spot in the 8?

With a heavy heart, I think we've just about run our race for the season. Statistically, we're still well and truly in it, but losing Friday night and more importantly losing 2, perhaps 3 key players in Davey, Hird and Fletcher (if either suspended or injured) who have been the barometer so far, of our courageous efforts makes our run home just that much more difficult given the teams we're up against.

We need to win 2 of the next 3. I think we can beat the dogs and crows. Not sure if we can beat the pies at the G without Hird, Davey and maybe Fletch.

I cant see us beating the Crows. Theyre showing signs of improving almost by the week and their personnel across the ground has more experience and grunt than we currently have.

Regarding the Dogs, depends which team turns up on the day to play us but they're much faster and skillful with the ball at full speed.

Pies at the G....doesnt give me any hope at all. Im tipping 9-8 after round 17.

At that stage, I didn't realise that it was the humerus as all reports had simply stated 'arm' and I made the assumption that it was the much more common type of break, that being a break to the ulna or radius.

However, I still can't see it being longer than 8 weeks. Arm injuries, unless further operations are required, are virtually never longer than 8 weeks, obviously Barnes is the exception.

In regard to Barnes, let's hope that surgery procedures in inserting rods have improved and now allow a hastier recovery. Davey, not being a big marking player or a ruckmen, may also be able to return quicker.

Adelaide's a fair way off, let's not discount our chances just yet. For all we know, Ricciuto, Goodwin, McLeod and Edwards could miss that game. Friday night was perfect evidence of how quickly one game can change things. Also, Adelaide have been up and down like a yo-yo this year, anything could happen.

In regard to the Dogs, you've chosen to look at the downside. Don't forget that we have Lloyd and Lucas in our forwardline and they only have one noted tall defender. Don't forget that West and Cross are each out of their midfield. We're a chance.

As for Collingwood, who knows? We can play terrific football against them sometimes just due to the fact that it's always a big occasion.

The season's not over yet, keep your hopes up.
