What about the beard?

30 years ago real men had beards. Then something happened and they went out of fashion. If you don't shave, people look at you like you're dirty. If you have a full beard, people think you're a bum. If you have a goatee, people think you're a homo. Men with beards can't win. What went wrong? Where did the beard go? Bring back the beard I say!

I agree. I had a plaited goatie, that I put ribbons through, could tie it into my chest hair, and people thought I was strange.

I now have a moustache with handles half way down my throat.

Real men grow facial hair. Nuff said.

I've got a short beard going ATM, only because I can't be stuffed shaving (which usually results in a cut or ten).

Not for me. Without one people think I look like a teenage kid. With one they think I'm in my 30s. I shave about every 3 or 4 days, a bit of growth but always clean shaven for the weekends. During my era beards, or especially moustaches haven't been in fashion whatsoever, although well done to the oldies who are trying to bring it back.

I can go either way, but yeah your right with the perceptions. Especially because i work in an office and its expected that you are clean shaven. What a load of crap.

I go to work with a week old beard and i couldn't care less tbh.

Yeh, same. I don't think it's the 'cool' thing to do, and most chicks go for hairless dudes that look like little boys, but who gives a stuff. I'm too lazy to shave all the time, and stuff the perception that a bloke has to be clean shaven. Apart from round my neck, I haven't shaved for 3 months. Getting there.

I've grown a beard a couple of times but the missus absolutely hates them with a passion! She nearly cried cause I attended a close friend's wedding in a beard (it was well kept and short).

I've had a beard for 28 years. I grew it after I turned 18 to make me look older. In my early 20's I trimmed it to a goatee and now years later it is a grey goatee. It is so much a part of me now that I could never shave it off.

I shaved last night for the first time in 4 months. Needless to say, it feels a bit different. Don't think I'll let it get that out of control again, but I'm definitely not shaving every day...

I'm quite in favour of facial hair as I just really get lazy when it comes to shaving.

I reckon I look better with facial hair anyway. Not a full on beard but I let the 5 day growth get a bit longer and fuzzier and it goes alright. Once it starts getting longer than that I start looking a bit ratty though.

Always get asked for ID buying cigarettes and alcohol when I'm clean shaven. Makes me look like I'm about 15 years old (I'm 28 btw)

I had long hair above my shoulders not that long ago until I shaved my head. When I had the 3-4 day growth, or even a couple of times a 1 week growth, people said I was Jesus himself.
