They say 6.30pm but my memory of the last couple of years is that there is quite a bit of stuffing around and they don't start reading out the names until about 7pm.

Is that what other people recall?

So for those Queensland viewers out there that is 5:30pm. I'll need to make sure I am away from work early. I don't fancy my chances of getting it with the volume on at any pubs here. Might need to stick to radio or gate crash a mates place. Decisions, decisions.

You can watch it live via the AFL app, there's even a free trial you can use, or if you've used that before just pay $4-99 for a weekly subscription which is what I'm doing.

Last year's draft coverage started at 7:00pm AEDT. As it does every draft, the AFL went through a bit of housekeeping stuff ('these are the rules', etc.) along with a little bit of a speech from the CEO (Vlad last year, Gil this year). The actual drafting started a little after 7:10pm.

Using that as a guide, I would say the picks will start being called out at about 6:40pm or so. The top 10 take a little bit of time to get through, as each pick is followed by a small highlights video, vision of hugs with mum and dad, the now traditional walk up on stage to get their jumpers from their new coach (Nathan will be handing out two again this year!) and a group photo once pick 10 gets read out. It opens up after that (Vlad was notorious for reading through the picks as quickly as the Brownlow votes, doubtless to get to the buffet table before anyone else, and being visibly annoyed when recruiters asked for an extension of time to consider their choice)...

Yeah, Just like the Footy Coverage they will talk for 30 Minutes and I guess they won’t talk much actually about the Draft. Shifter Sheenen will do little bit talking but he seems to be Ignored normally on the Telecast of Fox Footy

SEN Coverage starts at 7pm so Draft won’t start before then

I'm opting for the Fox live TV broadcast, rather than radio. I need to see Derek's impassive poker face when he reads out the names of our newbies. If he stumbles over them, as he did with - was it Grundy? - then we know we are onto a real winner. The other device du jour is the open laptop, with BF beaming away, and everyone being happy and nice to each other and in universal agreement over Derek's enlightened choices...I must be dreamin'.

What do you get for that package Shizzle? Can you watch on iPad or computer?

FOR THE first time, the 2014 national draft begins on AFL.com.au and the AFL Live Official App with a special 'NAB Draft Countdown' broadcast from 3pm AEDT.

Coming to you live from the Sofitel Gold Coast Broadbeach, join Garry Lyon, Matt Thompson and draft specialistCallum Twomey for a preview of what insiders say is the most even draft in memory.

We'll have interviews with the who's who of the footy world, including Melbourne coach Paul Roos, GWS football manager Graeme 'Gubby' Allan, veteran Collingwood talent spotter Derek Hine and premiership-winning Hawthorn list manager Graham Wright.

You'll also hear from a selection of the country's best young footy talent as they nervously wait to see what the future holds.

And of course Twomey, who famously predicted the first 13 selections at last year's NAB AFL Draft, will bring us all the latest draft mail.

Here's how to make sure you DON'T MISS A PICK.

If you're an AFL app subscriber, you can watch the draft itself LIVE on your phone or tablet from 6.30-8.30pm AEDT. And if you're not, we'll also have live radio streaming so you won't miss a second of the action.

I would be very surprised anything AFL related would commence at the actual programmed start time without someone throwing out some words of wisdom - In fact, if it's programmed at 6.30pm tomorrow night the #1 draft pick I estimate will be read around 02:33am Friday morning.

During the season do you see games through the app? Paying $75 a month for Foxtel and want to give it the boot.
I normally go to games, but I did use a free trial late in the season when I was crook, worked fine for me. I think it's only $89 for the year.
Stuff foxtel, I had it for awhile and realized it was just a waste of money. You can get all the good shows for free anyway off whatever torrent site you like, there's even one for footy related content.

Can you see all games do you know?

Yeah, Foxtel is a giant gyp.

Will follow on Twitter. The AFL has set up a dedicated draft account @AFLDraft.

Plus I follow Emma Quayle etc so will be quickest/easiest way given I'll be on the train.
