unironically the game is easier if you don’t have any memory of playing the original hollow knight. both are fantastic games that tell compelling stories through the environment.

would avoid trying to 100% both though, it’s a trudge

I played the first for an hour and gave up. Never clicked with me.

Silksong has though. Just beat the Act 1 boss. Ghee whiz that was tough. And the run to get back to it I reckon I did it about 33 times.

Fallout 4. Haven't liked it like the others but made myself play it after completing 3 and NV recently.

Enjoying the combat bit of it. Doing the Automaton DLC which is not bad. Dialogue system is lazy and poop. Not done much of the main story which is where my playthroughs trail off.
Check out Far Harbour if you have it, it's the best content in the game bar none.

Had a hankering to play some Madden, haven't touched the Xbox version in months..... at the tailend of my Xbox sessions I had purchased the pc version via the EPIC store... only played it a handful of times back then. As I was in the mood for some Madden I thought I'd install it on my new pc.

Second game back on All-Madden

"insert WWE You've still got it chant here"

Actually my first game was much more of a white wash, I blitzed the AI 54 - 0.
This second game was a lot more fumbly for both teams, my first quarter let me down (finally got it toward the other end, but could only manage a field goal). But I got my game going by the end of the second quarter - and that's despite letting them get an easy touch down.

Geeze looking at the Madden games now, they've come a long way from the first American Football game I ever played back in late primary school - 4th and Inches on the Commodore 64!

Madden 93 remains a favourite
Next best for me would be Madden 2004 (played the hell out of that one, and that's with buying 05 and 06... but still returning to 04 as I didn't like the latest installments).

I was useless at the late 90's Maddern games on Playstation
Thought 01 and 02 were good (only played the pc versions).

I had 08-09-11 on Xbox.
Played a few of the others for free, but Madden 25 was my first proper Madden in years, I guess that's why I got addicted to it again as I hadn't played a Madden game in years. I've heard Madden 26 is a bigger step in the right direction, so I might indulge in it soon (well by Jan-Feb when it goes on sale after the proper season finishes lol).

Metal Gear Solid (Master Collection Version).

Haven't played it in years, like probably since the early 2000s even though it's my favourite PSone game. This is also the first time I'm playing the superior NTSC version.

I'm up to the first Sniper Wolf boss fight.

Still a fantastic game, though I wish they did a slightly better remaster job, just getting rid of the PSone texture flicker etc would have been great.

Hanging out for a Master Collection 2 with MGS4 (PS3 exclusive) and Portable Ops (PSP exclusive) as absolute necessities.

New World Aeternum. I was looking through the recent PS plus additions and this caught my eye for some reason. I almost quit after 20 mins because the graphics, sound, writing and voice acting were all sub par but something kept compelling me to go forward and now I'm really enjoying it lol. It's just a bit of mindless fun really, I kind of get Kingdom of Amular vibes from it.

Not sure if you know that a while ago there was a patch that now lets you choose 4K resolution for MGS 2 and 3. Just keep in mind the option for it has to be selected on the main before selecting the game.

No such 4K option for MGS 1.

So after clocking of Far Cry 4, needed a new shooter and have Borderlands 2,3 and the Pre Sequel in my back catalogue. Hitting 2 first and I've got to say the first hour or 2 I was pretty bored but now I've opened up Sanctuary and really enjoying it. Bloody addictive.

Gears of War: Reloaded - first time playing in about 15+ years. Forgot how short it was. Finished in 6h and that was slowing up to find locations of COG tags using a guide. Really impressive graphically, though.

Been running through Alan Wake 2, probably recency bias.... but THAT music video moment Initiation 4: We Sing may be my all time favourite moment in gaming.

This bad boy right here. Saw Megabonk trending so looked into it.

Its 3D Vampire Survivors, very addicting. Perfect Steamdeck game. Good on the desktop too.

Might check it out too

sometimes i wonder what happened to video game soundtracks.

i was listening to the unreal tournement, quake and doom soundtracks last night, and they're like, so much better than a lot of stuff coming out nowadays (some exceptions ala silksong, bg3 stand out to me) but so many of these soundtracks are just... not as good.

expedition 33 is a banger

Until just a few hours ago I had no idea that a "version" of the arcade versions of Frogger and Green Beret were on the Playstation store. Thats hours upon hours of entertainment sorted for myself :p.

Frogger was on the Xbox 360 and is backwards compatible - thus I play it on the Xbox Series X pretty regularly (well regular enough to keep my skills in check and am routinely 1st or in the top 5 of the weekly leaderboards).

Green Beret was on the Xbox 360 via the Live Arcade service... but was never made backwards compatible :(.
Cracking game, I remember playing it at Melbourne Airport many years ago, but I only really had the Commodore 64 version to muck around with when I was little.

But as I said that's now hours of gaming sorted for myself :p

Funny how I was being stingy with buying games, yet I basically purchased both games (under $11) without hesitation.
Almost got the Bubsy collection as well, but holding off on that for maybe a Christmas sale :p

Hollow knight?
Hades?
Undertale?

I dunno. I liked the Elden Ring soundtrack. Cyberpunk went pretty hard, even if it's more GTA than a traditional soundtrack. We've got Hades 2 released and apparently that's a good soundtrack too. People enjoyed the Doom remake and sequels' soundtracks as well, even if they're not my cup of tea. I might genuinely hate the modern Pokemon games, but people like the soundtracks for some unfathomable reason (I'm not one of them; give me the original Lance theme and I've got chills).

This feels a bit like nostalgia posting to me.

it certainly is, and i think it has to do with my own taste in music (obviously) but i just think it's kind of worse now. how many games nowadays get musicians like nine inch nails to make the music for their game? to me that's crazy.
