The ball will be whisked down the other end where a spoil will ricochet of the field umps legs through the goals. Saints are awarded the goal because technically the ball went through off the legs of one of Freo's 'opponents' for the night.

Despite this Freo will still have the chance to win the game in the last seconds. But the controlling ump will rush across the mark for a heroic spoil, then pay a 50 against Freo for kicking the ball into him.

Bigfooty posters will then spend the rest of the week telling Freo supporters to stop being sooks because 'the umps weren't the reason you lost - if you were any good you wouldn't have been in the position to let them influence the game to start with.'

does anyone remember that time that freo played essendon in 2006(?) and matt carr got hit by an essendon player then freo kicked a goal and the umpire asked the essendon player if the goal should stand or if they should bring the ball back to M.Carr for a free 45m out. and then Carr missed.
