WHAT DO McKERNAN AND WALKER HAVE TO DO ?

Yeah Blighty never dropped a naturally talented forward. ...... or play one at half back

All the talk when he signed was about how Blight would get the best out of Modra. A free-spirited, super talented forward who would know how to treat another one. Worked for a year.

Then Blight showed him the door.

Nah; He just sent a couple of defenders to do the job instead. By the way, Modra says hello!:)

Tis what Im getting at.

I wish Tex was playing, I think he should be in the side, but I dont know why anyone would suggest Blight would do things differently after he banished the clubs greatest ever forward.

Some people have short memories, or are too young to remember.:D

Blight and Modra didn't get along!

Blight was not conventional at all and used all sorts of different people up forward to get the results he got.

People using the argument that 'Blight wouldn't play Walker anywhere but FF' are just stupid or have very short memories. Blight used players all over the ground in different spots, Trent Ormond-Allen in ruck... Shane Ellen up forward in a grand final...

Who knows Blight might have seen Walker has an excellent user of the footy and put him on the HBF.

Blights commentary from a recent game showed that he is several years removed from the AFL. He was a great coach 12 years ago, but some of his ideas don't fit in with how football is played nowadays. (like it or not).

what nonsense. that's just a load of self rationalising old twaddle.

for a start you'd need a personal high level of expertise to be able to discern that from comments on TV.

Blight also played people talent, he had huge respect for talent.
witness his affection for eccles as a player who could just play.

Its well known he had issues with Modra but are some of you so desperate to reinvent the truth that you think he didn't work well with talented players??

Nobody has mentioned where Tex got most of his marks in the last 3 games. I bet it was up the ground. And he did spend time at full forward, regardless of what some people say.

We seem infatuated with having Tippet in the goal square and instructing our midfielders to bomb the ball in as high as humanely possible in the off chance that Tippet will take a contested mark instead of doing what 15 other clubs do and try to create space for a leading forward (getting it in quick).

This is the key issue I have with the lack of McKernan and Walker at the moment. Our guy style that Craig has enforced focuses on the backs and mids streaming out of the back half and quickly feeding it to Tipp one-on-one.

The problem is that under the current game the fast break and ease of a fast break has been severely resitricted by full ground defense. The outcome is that quick breaks are not occuring and Tipp is often double/ triple teamed, or simply man handled. Players such as Porps and Walker who can find space are essential. The reason those players are not finding the ball currently is that our approach into the forward line is simply a case of bomb it long, it isn't employing the simple rule of lowering the eyes and fnding the best option.

This is poor couching, one of the few failures of the Craig game plan at the moment
What bloody game are you watching, adelaide don't do this at all.
They don't at all kick quickly deep into the forward line and put the defenders under pressure. They handpass across the center square they kick straight 30 meter passes to the opposition at about 40 meters out, they make inside 50 passes by hand.

You are clueless absolutely clueless.
Tipett is not being directed to and when he is there is free kicks or marks to him as they can't defend him properly due to vert, reach and panic.
The ball is dominantly going to nothing/opponent or Burton.

If they actually did kick it to the square Adelaide would be doing a great deal better, even registering a behind makes for a kick in and kick ins are a major source of turnover and goals.

Walker himself is responsible for a fair few of these shocking inside 50's.

If there was simple instruction to bomb it long into the forward line you wouldn't have players taking a mark at half forward and handpassing backward.

Walker has plenty of tackles a reasonable contested possession count but he has 14 inside 50s with no goal assists.
If he was peppering the square there would be more behinds but he's not.

There is no penetration they are playing into oppositions hands handing over rebound goals with turnovers.

what nonsense. that's just a load of self rationalising old twaddle.

This would have to be one of the dumbest, most laughable things I have ever seen! You don't even know which views of Blight I was talking about!

Or perhaps you know every single thing that Blight has ever said about football, and it is all infallible?

You're so eager to be cynical about something, you can't help yourself even if you don't know what you're being cynical about!!! :p
