What have we learnt ?

Hi guys just was just wondering what your thoughts are on Scott Burns so far? He was our midfield coach for 5 years and every one knows that we have a pretty average mid, this is a mid that Scott burns built and developed and is gonna take years to fix. I have always enjoyed watching the Collingwood mid and rate them as one of the top in the comp but to me they don't seem to be as damaging as they once were, can this be put down to Burns?

I remember a time when we used to beat this mob. There are two ways to beat another team..... try and play their game at a higher level or try a different style. The current coach is chasing a game style without the right troops to implement it. The more defensive mind-set of 2014 has improved our spot on the ladder a little, but we need to go even more defensive to choke teams like Hawthorn. At the moment, we're having a bob each way and we'll never beat the top teams.

Nice to see Bucks finally getting into the players a little rather than trying to motivate them with zen thinking. If he can manage to grow a moustache and grey his hair a little, the players might start playing for him...

Pretty legitimate question, IMO, and one that will probably divide.

Structurally at stoppages we've taken a hit, but the defensive run has improved significantly. The deciding factor is the development of midfield types and as we sit we're in a bit of a holding pattern due to injury, but if I had to evaluate our line coaches it would be.

Hart > Daylight > Burns > Daylight > Lappin

He's 12 games into the role though so it'll be interesting to see how it develops moving forward. The slow down of Swan hasn't helped, that's for sure!!

Freo will take 4th, we need to lock 5th or 6th and try and get some finals experience in our newbies. 2015 and 16 is our time

We don't cover their exits out of defense well enough and our defenders don't mark the ball. Probably the 2 areas we need to clean up against them.
This has been horrendous lately. We play a low number forward line, well where the hell are they all?

Nothing has changed since they first beat us in 2011. Their small forwards destroy us because our small Defenders are slow and let them.

Hopefully people finally learn that we aren't a premiership threat for the next year or two. We are building a young team that looks promising but now its up to how hard they work as to whether they will be in premiership contention in a few years time
Oh so now we can't win it in 2015 too.

The Knock on the Mids last year they where 1 way Runners and Burns is trying to fix that

Exactly. Pretty obvious the club is reloading with youth for a crack in a few years time

Well as I have said before the Adams for Heater Trade made that Blatantly Clear

I knew this weeks ago. Bunch of campaigners.

Flag will go to either: Port, Hawf or Syds. Freo are shit too.

3 horse race and the rest is making up the Numbers

Last 2 weeks has been horrendous for the club. I had us pegged as a better list than we seem to be. To be essentially out of top 4 contention just after the mid point of the season is suggesting we are a fair way behind the leading teams now. If we want a flag in the next few years it would be much better to be staying around the mark of the top teams.

I worry about the thought that we can just build a team to rise back up to flag contention in 2015-16 on the back of a few youngsters maturing. Of our younger group I only see Elliott as giving performances suggesting he will mature into an A grader. A few others show potential but we are a long way off the maturing talent of a Gold Coast, GWS or even Port. I have always seen the 2010-11 list as a group who were young enough to be the nucleus of a 2nd flag. It is that group who are our real hope and they are starting to slip away a bit.

The last 2 weeks worry me a lot for our future.
