With the impending return of our best midfielder( fyfe),what is our best centre square combination?
I'm not including sandi as I don't believe we'll see him again in 2012.
IMO our slickest and best combo will be griffo ,fyfe, mundy & hilly, good amount of break away speed, good size fyfe and mundy, lacking a bit of mongrel though.de boer helps this for sure, jeez a fit and firing Mora would be darn handy right now.Next year.

Griffin, Fyfe, Barlow, De Boer !
It's probably never happened before in a fair dinkum game, but that is what I think !

Sandilands, Mundy, Fyfe, Barlow.

Hill and Mora on the wings.

with DeBoer, Neale and (one day) Morabito as rotation into the centre and across the flanks. But what AS211 said for the best combo.

Ruck: Sandilands
Rovers: Lower, Mundy
Centreman: Barlow
Wings: Hill, Fyfe
Tagger: Crowley

Fighting for a spot: Deboer, Suban, Morabito, Neale, Sutcliffe

The thing that intrigues me is why Barlow mostly starts at CHF now for the centre bounces. Would still be our best clearance player imho but rarely starts in the middle at the bouncedowns.

I'm sure Ross must have his reasons but it's a mystery to me.

I don't really know, but when it does I think it's a defensive issue. If we don't secure the ball, Barlow becomes a bit of a defensive liability at the moment. Maybe he uses Barlow there for balance issues in the centre bounces?

All things being equal, I think the most important players at the centre bounce are players proven to be able to win clearances (obviously), are quick thinkers/users, and can quickly asses the situation of a given play. For us that's Mundy, Fyfe and, when not injured, Lower and probably Barlow after that. Obviously rotations occur, but for me they'd be it right now.

BTW, why hasn't anybody mentioned Pav? :p

I'm ok with whatever players the coach wants in there, as long as they are not standing flat-footed (which we do a lot). Look at the midfields performing this year, and they are not static, Hawthorns/West Coasts/Sydneys mids circle the bounce like a pack of wolves circling a deer. We have been standing still too much, especially when Sandi was rucking (expecting silver service I guess).

We need players running through in multiple directions (as well as a winger or two streaking past the pack waiting for the fist over the top). Whenever we are flat-footed at the bounces - we get smashed in the clearances. We need to inject some dynamism (this is why Fyfe and Hill are such brilliant clearance players, they are always moving at stoppages). This is also why opposition taggers hold onto them so much.

On the basis of needing the most dynamic midfield we can put together.

Griffin (love his reflexive snaps forward of the pack - those 30m add up over a game).
Hill (we need to work as a team to break his tag, he can get clearance only when he isn't being held)
Fyfe (always happy when he's around the ball - magic happens)
De Boer (hunts the ball like an orca chases a baby seal - love his ferocity)
Barlow (he is in the process of finding his mojo)

On the flip side - I think we can move a couple behind the play, as they are getting caught stationary in the middle and costing us the initiative.
Mundy (at his best he is a very creative playmaker in the middle, but he isn't back to his best yet - HB or wing for me)
Sandi (he doesn't trust his feet yet, wait till he is fully recovered before putting him back to the middle full time)

We need some of these made for Sandi to take the pressure off his feet

Griffin, Mundy, Barlow and Lower.

Fyfe and Hilly running in from the wings to receive.

Crowley, Deboer and Neale options on the bench or rotoating in other positions.

This. It seems to be a different set of blokes in there for each bounce though.

Won't be long till Sutcliffe is in there I reckon.

Agree with Sandi, Fyfe, Mundy, and the next spot is more difficult depending on opposition.
De Boar has claims now, but Hill can be more damaging.

Crowley cant be too far away from it can he.

I would prefer Hill on the wing and Barlow at HFF.
