Referring to the skill in a certain position as 'craft'.

Ruck 'craft', forward 'craft' etc.

I cringe every time I hear it.
This one brings back memories. Was coaching a men’s 4ths team in Sydney in 2017 and we brought in a well regarded ex SANFL player as senior coach. All 4 teams warmed up together and before training the coach outlined the training schedule, warm up, craft, cardio/ running, general skill drills, match simulation. I knew the others but thought to myself, “hello, this craft is an interesting one. Will we be doing some pottery and weaving tonight?”

  • "The playing group" - instead of 'players'
  • "Fat side" - instead of 'open side'
  • "Dissapointed I put myself in that situation" - instead of 'sorry for my reprehensible behaviour'
  • 'The GWS' - instead of 'GWS' or 'The Giants'
  • 'Money Ball' - AFL commentators have literally never once used this in the correct context
And I just generally hate the phrase 'we stuck to our structures'.

Exactly the ball is on its way down when someone marks it, does my head in
the highest point when contesting a mark compared to other competitors trying the same or to mark or spoil. one of the main reasons players don't take chest marks anymore unless they are jostling rather than jumping.
