If you believe that you have more right to talk about footy because you can name-drop playing alongside Riccardi and Johnson (obviously getting bored with AFL was a good excuse back then) then pure and simple you have an overinflated ego and wish to belittle other people.
It doesn't matter who you played against, it's a matter of how good you are personally.
