So last week I bought a watch off eBay which arrived yesterday.......minus the watch.

Just the box with everything in it but the watch itself, just a $200 box. So i sent a message to the seller explaining what's happened and that he may have accidentally left the watch out, this is the message I got in return

listen to me, when you try to steal someone be smart.
israeli people are very hard on this kind of things, me in particular. i have a very close friend over in Melbourne i don't really want to let him drive 300KM to you, but if i must i will do so..
i will recommend you to drop it off and enjoy the watch, you will not succeed to steal me.
you will have to pay for the way and time of this man. it is not about this 200$ just that people like you ask to get this.
be smart.

So, thoughts?

I don't get it
Is the guy saying the guy he knows in Melbourne will drop the watch off to you or is he threatening you?

His engrish is not so good

What sort of feedback did the seller have, any negative feedback with similar complaints? You should have buyer protection if you used Paypal, but I've never had to use it before so not sure what criteria there is. You can also raise a complaint using Paypal I believe

When I used to sell stuff on ebay buyers would sometimes take advantage of the fact that I used regular postage and claim that their item was not received as early as two or three days after the auction ended, and there was nothing I could do about it. They would likely still get their item and I would have to return their funds because I didn't have any proof that it had been sent. Sure I left myself open to that by not using registered post and it was a very small minority that did it but it's still a shit thing to do

Ignore the empty threats and tell him you'll be lodging a complaint unless he sends the watch.

The f***? Unlucky there BILC.

All the best, hope it all works out

Fantastic English. I'd be doing everything possible to recover your cash & then making it well known about this fool's threats & false auctions in feedback.

If any further or more specific threats are then aimed I'd be going to some sort of authority about them.

Good luck.

Buyers never lose on paypal disputes. You are almost certain to get your money back.
I'm no expert other than the odd reading of a dispute thread - but isn't the only proof that the item was posted - which if sent registered post to the OP then the seller will have?

Whether the watch is there or not is really the buyer's word against the seller's

Don't rule out the option of paying this joker a visit in person, keeping in mind that all israelis own a weapon.

His latest email read simply,

"Lets play it your way"

.............."runs to lock doors"
