They leave at a time when money is tight, the club is searching desperately for a major sponsor and has lost significant corporate support. Nettlefold has confirmed the club will lose up to $2 million in 2011 although he has largely blamed poor returns from Etihad Stadium.

889 less people per game at Etihad has seen a $4 million turnaround in profit?

Less members & less attending our games at the MCG appear to be the difference between 2010 & 2011. But if we were not ripped off at Jihad this would not matter.

The loss / reduction of sponsors would have attributed much to that 4m turnaround, but those figures are also in isolation since you effectively need to go through each match to determine if one was a net loss or profit based on audience attended, averages are misleading in this regard as one assumes net profit, however of those 9 if 5 were losses and of those 5, 2 were heavy losses you better hope to have greater profits to offset them.

You then have a loss of marketing potential during the pre-season where frankly the commodity was shot to ribbons with smut, loss of corporate dividends with sponsors stepping down to minor roles, expansion of staff costs (media reps as an eg) and it clicks into place as far as public information goes.

I would like to see Pulse Pharmacy step up their contribution though, a real chance to grab the market by the horns and associate heavily with a sporting code and they're basically stuck with a few banners and watching people who have never kicked footy try and kick it and handing out discounts.

And the fact that people don't want to go to the Footy to fall asleep watching the boring style we played!

I'm thinking lack of GFs, Jeld-Wen cutting their sponsor $'s to a minimum, cost to deck out Seaford, also Collingwood & Carlton (generally very high crowd teams) home games were played at Etihad and probably a few other mitigating factors

Do they generally release an annual report? Would make for a bit of interesting reading...

Prizemoney (net of player payments) from the Grand Finals was over $700k, so that's not repeated along with all the additional merchandise opprtunities from being involved in multiple finals.

We also got $800k last year from the AFL for the s**t deal at Etihad. Seems this is not being repeated - so there's another chunk of money down the toilet.

$1.5m goes a long way!

Annual report won't issue until just before Xmas (the club's financial year hasn't finished yet).

Dont get Blues supporters started on Etihad.

The sooner we are out of that shithole the better.

Its worse for us - our own president (who was also the CEO of docklands) shafted us into our current crappy deal.

Essendon are the only club that get a good deal there.

Might see some better deals coming up with a lot of clubs unhappy with the current deals with the ground, and a big crowd drawer like Carlton looking to pack up and get out of there ASAP.

Etihad is going to become a dumping ground for the smaller interstate teams when they play in Victoria.
