I think it's all a ploy to build up Friday Night's Grand Final replay against Geelong.
The AFL is dying for a real Friday Night blockbuster, and I think the AFL controlled journos (which means about 80% of AFL accredited journos) have been told to write positive articles starting today.
That's all I can think off, because usually they'd be writing negative articles about us like usual.

This, the man is slime and still couldn't resist adding things about the 2010 grand final night crap into his article. Of course a journo will say that was essential to get the whole picture of Beams' recent history but it's irrelevant to his current purple patch and was clear that Beams didn't want to talk about it at all.
John McCarthy is having a decent season so far at Port, I wonder if the HUN will interview him and bring all that crap up again.
