Can't make it to the game tomorrow night, and was thinking.. this is the only game i haven't gone to this season which is not live on tele, and i hate watching the blues knowing that it's a full hour behind! So was wondering what is everyones preferred method for such delayed games? Very random topic i know, but hey im stuck at uni!

Don't go on the internet and look up results, keep the radio off, keep your disciplin and wait and watch it on TV. That's my method for it. Austar helps though...

Yeah in previous years i have been patient enough to hold out, but last year i just couldn't do it! would start watching then go and listen to the radio. One hour delay is pretty ridiculous but no use complaining

You have to stick it out, i've waited for 6-7 hours on a sunday a few times. Family or friends often ruin it so discipline is key and avoiding outdoor public places a must.

I've gotten over all the effort lately as we always seem to play rubbish when i have to avoid a long delay.

but still NEVER LISTEN TO THE RADIO, its nowhere near as good

Living in country Victoria, I quite often watch games delayed,

Car goes in garage, garage is locked.
Blinds are closed.
No visitor allowed.
Phone off the hook.
Mobile switched off.
Computers off.

You should try living in WA when the game is just finishing up when it starts on tv over here at 8.30pm.

Luckily a watering hole in the northern suburbs of perth show the game at 6.30pm perth time. So I told the Mrs we are off to the pub for dinner and a few pints tomorrow night. ;)

I still find it a battle not too turn on the radio and get a score.

My method generally involves complaining to anyone within ear shot about it.

I'm the same, I hold out then it's not ruined (either way) by the time it gets to the tv.

not many fans of the radio i see... i love the radio and especially the triple m boys on a friday night are a joy to listen to... if im listening to it then i dont feel the need to watch it over again on tv...

Rhythm unless you are from the amf87 mold :D

I miss quite a few Melbourne games cause of work so I have developed a simple yet effective method to watch delayed telecasts as live.

Obviously radio is a no-no. If I happen to be in the car at the time, I'll switch it to the SBS station on the AM dial and that way i know theres no chance of acidentally stumbling across some live AFL scores. After a while, you get used to Vietnamese news.

At home, I turn my mobile off (mates tend send texts to bag me when Carlton's getting done so my heart sinks if i hear an sms during the 3rd quarter of a delayed telecast). As for the missus and the little one, I lock them in the bedroom and chuck in a few dvds so they can keep themselves entertained for a few hours.

And that about covers it.

Oh, and never, I repeat NEVER watch delayed telecasts at my mates Chris's house. We ALWAYS lose when I watch games at Chris's house.

Funny, I have a mate 'eddie' (seeing names seem appropriate), every time I go and watch delayed games there, we win, that big comeback game in round 3 against Essendon a couple of years ago, I actually went over at half time to watch it, stupid I know, but we come back and won.

Seriously thinking of going over tonight to watch the game.

And for gods sake Zucker, stay away from Chris's house will you...

cannot handle not knowing
ABC radio at work thru the computer, in the car and then when I get home will do me!

X 2 Guns :thumbsu:

I have MMM on as soon as the game starts then watch it when it comes on T.V Delayed as well, with the T.V on Mute and MMM live still going!! Much to the Dismay of the Misses who says all the time " How can you watch that you know whats going to happen".

Either way i have to know live what is going on!! :D

I don't mind hearing the score or the result before watching the game.

Two weeks ago I was eating dinner at Cable Beach, Broome, on the Friday night of the Weagles game. No telly at the restuarant. But I had a few people telling me what the score was at the end of every quarter. I had set the VCR before I left home and watched the game when I got home on Monday night. I enjoyed every minute of the game and enjoyed fast forwarding through all of the add's.

I'll be listening to the ABC radio on the way home in the cage and at home. Then when the game is finished, the TV coverage will start on channel Stokes and I can watch the vision .... until I fall asleep :)
