When we play Freo

im not trolling here but when taz first came here he had a medical and our docs had him in surgery soon after for his calf complaint. apparantly he has been playing with pain for 3 years,why didnt he have surgery when he was with you guys?

anyway regarding medhurst, noone will run through him because it si impossible

in 05 he played thru because all our other talls, ie
Rocca, Fraser, C&T.Cloke, Richards, Rusling all had more serious injuries

in 06 he had niggles but they opted to rest him as we were in the finals action

unless he is 100% he cant seem to produce

stick Lonie on him and he wont get a kick

This thread cracks me up tell me how many people have u seen run through Tarrant ? I've seen a few try and come off second best , he may not be very good in a body on body wrestle but he has never had a problem laying a bump here and there.
Funny thing is Taz played with stuffed shins for 2 years that he should of had surgery to repair yet still played reasonable football yeah he didn't kick alot of goals but he did a hell of alot around the ground and still was our best goal kicker for 5 yrs and runner up last year , yeah where not gonna miss TAZ.

The same Lonie that no one at all would deny comfortably beat both Brad Johnson and Adam Goodes when played on them in 2006, amongst others?

Lonie is soft, and his own commitment to the ball is extremely questionable, but he actually does often do a pretty good job when assigned an opponent to blanket.

Even so, I wouldn't play him on Tarrant - Clement gets Tarrant. Not because we need to put our best defender on him, but because Presti gets Pavlich, and Maxwell or Wakelin gets Murphy.

The way he dominates football games is by being able to burn off his opponent and run them ragged.....Lonie has done good jobs on Goodes, Burton and B.Johnson who are similar type players to taz.

Yes Lonie is soft, doesn't go in for the hard balls, and taz would think u beauty i can out body Lonie, but when Taz tries to wrestle with opponents he is not effective

I see Lonie as a potential C.Bruce type player, somebody who can go with taz on the lead and also run off him if given the chance.....

Pav on the other hand can wrestle and take good contested marks, hence need clement for him as he can do both!

Yes losing Taz may hurt, but it had been 3 years since we saw his best, and T.Cloke and Rusling may well be able to provide the 30 odd goals taz gave us last year!

I'm not a huge Lonie fan but he'd definitely be an option to match up on Tarrant, who defensively can be sloppy. Lonie can try and hurt him on the rebound. I'm also impressed with Lonie's improved aerial defensive skills and tighter man-on-man defence in season 2006.

Would love to see Buckley smash Tarrant, fairly... Like he crunched Campo in that tackle after campo broke Brodie Hollands nose. In that game a cuple of years back, with the big brawl! One of many.

I don't like using Lonie as a KPP. I think he has to be used at half forward/half back and give us some run and flair.

As Taz will most likely be played as a HFF, Lonie playing as a HBF seems a good fit

He probably won't. The structures they seem to be setting up at the moment are a rotation of talls through FF, FP, CHF, HFF (quite deep). They had Pav, Tarrant, Murphy and young Adam Campbell rotating through those positions yesterday at training. Then there's Longmuir / Sandilands to come in (at the expense of Campbell), with Farmer, Bell, Hasleby, Crowley, Headland, Schammer (when fit), to fill the other two positions.


Just as an aside - you reckon a Freo family of 5 would cop much from the Pies supporters if we were to fly over for the game. One of the games of the year IMO, and I'd like to be there with the other half and the 3 Little Purple People...


Also - how is Medders going at training? Always loved the Monkey-boy Megastar (even when he frustrated the shyte outta me) and wish him all the best at the Pies.

At least ur not pig headed about Medhurst like some of the Collingwood fans are about Taz, he's gone and I think he was great 4 Collingwood, a good player, and I hope he tears up other teams, but us, at his new home!!
