I doubt the loss will make much difference to us next week of the week after that. It might cost us at the end of the year in terms of ladder placing but in the end we aren’t going to win the premiership this year so it is pretty academic. It’s probably good to have the younger players under pressure. Structurally we are a draft and trade week or two away from being a premiership contender and that is assuming we get what we need and that the young players don’t slide. With or without the Dogs win we’d probably end up 5th to 8th. Hopefully we can show a bit and win next week. That will be a good sign for the list.

In regards to this season we have to expect some up ad down with younger players being in prominent roles. Still, if we could kick straight we’d be a much better chance of sneaking into the top 4 and pulling off a 2002 type season.

We go to the Gabba and win.

As much as this game was a test, the Brisbane game will be just as big a test. A test to see if we can come back from a somewhat sobering result and just do the right things and win in unwelcome territory.
IMO it was a much less sobering result than the final. We were smashed everywhere in the final. We could and should have been 6+ goals up in the 3rd and answered the initial challenges but we let good chances slip. In the final we couldn’t even create the chances.

Mick predicted it to happen two weeks back, and it happened only yesterday. There was always going to be a drop off, and it happened. It was the legs that were lost when the game was won. The good signs were, we still got the ball with absolutely nothing in the tank...so when re-fuelled, we'll be right.

I personally believe that this is the only time in the last decade that we have a chance at the Gabba...let's hope it happens.
