In dropping Ivan and making him play for the bottom team in the reserves on saturday. Ok, he didn't play the greatest game on the weekend but geez give him the chance to redeem himself after being embarrassed all week by our football club. First he gets a spray at 3 qtr time (hardly any player gets a one on one spray these days in the public eye) and then the coach comes out TODAY (not monday) and apologises. I would have given him one last chance this week and if he fails, then sure, replace him. We've got a showdown next week and by the looks of things he wont play and he's the only player in our whole squad that stands up for his team mates when the going gets rough.

If you wanna drop players due to their form then why doesn't Mcleod, Douglas, Van Berlo, Thompson, Dogger, Vince etc... get sent back to the SANFL??? Their form has been average of late. I just don't understand.

their ruckwork isn't all it could be though ;)

I would imagine that Craig would have apologised to Ivan the following day, if not after the game. The fact that its only come out today in the media doesn't necessarily mean its the first time its been said.

Yes, its disappointing that he may well play for the bottom reserves side, but you can't just keep him in because of that. What's been extremely pressing is Griffin's form in the SANFL. I read on here last weekend that someone, possibly in the media, said that he could also be leading the Magery Medal count! That form is hard to ignore and certainly should be rewarded.

I just think its the wrong time. Let the bloke prove himself one more time. His form hasn't been disgraceful.

Why are people so precious about this kind of thing? Maric hasn't been playing well and griff is on fire at the moment. It's a no-brainer. Who cares if his team isn't playing in the sanfl. There is no way that should ever effect who we choose to play. Otherwise maybe we should be playing kite because the poor guy is stuck in a reserves team too.

He'll be right. He'll have a rest this week and have his chance to play a few SANFL games and tear it up and push for selection again. I can't see this sort of thing putting a dent in his confidence. It will probably push him to dominate everything he can.

I just hope that Griff starts showing some leadership and intensity at AFL level, imo he's been less than inspiration thus far in his career. Ivan may be a nutter and make some stupid decisions, but he's really shown that intensity that can lift a team.

One of my favorite players, but is out of form, Griff is killing it in SANFL.

I'd realy like to see them go tandom, maybe when Drago puts away a couple of dominating efforts for the Magpies and Griff retains good form we'll see them twin tower it up all over everyone.

I'm disappointed Maric is out. Love his attitude. He became one of our most important players last season - a real leader on the ground. This season not so good but in a team that is always so calm and measured he is a reassuring dose of passion!

Pleased for Griffin though. Every cloud.

The thing is, we don't know how many chances Craigy has already given him. For all we know last week's game could have been his last chance and hence why Craigy fired up so much. To ruck effectively in the AFL you can't be giving away free kicks like candy at Halloween. 11-1 count against him. Lets say that is 8 or 9 times of giving up a free kick around a stoppage or centre bounce. A quick play on from the opposition and we're on the back foot.

He's a big boy and if he wants to forge a career in the AFL he needs to cop it on the chin, learn from it and prosper. Giff also deserves his chance. It was a no brainer decision IMO.

VB for captain:D

Maric has the passion burning inside of him everyone knows that... I just hope that someone else stands up in his absense, the thing that hurts is that he gets dropped and they name two ruckman one of which is a "GARY lyon list clogger" in his place are we to assume that IVAN is now sitting in third spot, and what about the talk that McKernan was ready to be picked.. where is he now??

NC PLEASE DON'T EVER PLAY MORAN AGAIN, HE'S A HACK!!

well your argument is useing one logic. Let me use the better logic.

Why hinder the team bye keeping Ivan in when there is someone better (Griffen) who can help us more.

He's already proven himself, but he's in seriously average form at the moment, while Griff is playing beautifully - so he deserves a shot.

Maric will come back and go alright, but at the moment, Griff deserves the spot.

The logic is that the team is bigger than the individual.

Selection panel believes that the team has a greater chance of winning with Griffin than Maric. If the Crows win due to this change at the expense of Maric playing for one week I hardly see the reason to scream bloody murder:rolleyes:

He has been decidedly average for a couple weeks now. Griffin has been in outstanding form in the SANFL and deserves his shot. The opposite happened last year.

Playing for the bottom reserve side has little to do with anything.

Seems Logical to me

Griff's good form is being rewarded

Maric less than acceptable form has cost his spot in the short term

Selection competition builds pressure and this pressure should hopefully drive positive results

Need to remember that there is no "I" in "Team", yes it may not be ideal for Maric however it is the best outcome for the team

No, it has nothing to do with anything as he won't play in the reserves, he'll have a week off.

And maybe if we weren't plaing a twilight game in rainy weather at the G we could have played them both, but right now Grif has been tearing it up in the SANFL and Maric has been a bit disappointing. I have no doubt big Ivan will respond in the fashion we know he can and be back in the side in no time.
