You see though unlike Carlton other teams don't go out with deliberate attempts to screw teams over and cheat the system, Pick 19 will be traded for Warnock and it will be win-win for both teams and all will be happy, you see what screwing another team out of a pick or player does is it enrages the team your dealing with, therefore making it stick in the memories and they either won't deal with them in future or will screw them back, it won't all be roses next time.

Even though he may prefer to go to Carlton, I can't see him flatly refusing going to Melbourne.

Carlton will work something out, they know how important he could be for them, I reckon pick 24 would do the job..

Plus, im not sure Melbourne would give up pick 19, if he dont nominate us as his preferred club, then we wont give up 19 for him..

Well he has nominated Carlton, $1mil for 3 years is being talked about, staggering amount for a bloke who has played 21 games, and realistically shown nothing at AFL level.

Seems a bit selfish to me though, looks as if he is just going o the money, he has a guaranteed ruck position for the next 5 years at least in Melbourne, he would be able to train and play along side his brother and he could help to rebuild the dismantaled Melbourne team, and if what has been said by many Carlton supporters about Hampson is true then Warnock will stay second fiddle to him for the rest of his career anyway, at best he will still only share the ruck role with Hampson and Kruezer, he certainly won't be the designated No.1 ruck for the next 10 years.

First point 300k per year for one of the most promising 206cm young ruck in the AFL is hardly overpaying. To be the #1 ruck to a midfield containing Judd, Murph, Gibbs and Stevens is a massive drawcard. The Blues rucks - Hampson and Kruezer - are only 19 years old, and struggled physically this year. Warnock at 21, has a few extra seasons under his belt. If we end up getting him, Warnock and Hampson will be the main rucks in 2009, with Kruezer doing part time ruck stuff, and more full-time KP forward and other roles. Cloke's position in the team will be under pressure over the next 12 months. The trade is not 100%, but now we know there'll be only one of 2 outcomes:

1) He goes to the Blues and Freo get pick 24
2) Freo refuse the Blues offer, and he goes to the Dees in the PSD. Freo get nothing and the Blues keep pick 24.

We can't lose. Only Freo can. BTW in case we needed any reminder, Swann and Icke are easily the best negotiators in the AFL. This deal was being planned a long long time ago, but only made public now. Again, like last year, the Tiges weren't even considered an option.
