draft picks are not exact science, sometimes work out sometimes doesnt. For example, some idiot picked up some random player and left them Lance Franklyn at their pick.
Tambling still played many more games than our pick 6s combined

If I remember correctly, Richmond picked Aaron Fiora at 6 ahead of Matthew Pavlich at pick 7
And Aaron is historically relatively good for a pick 6
it's worse than that, you used Pick 3.

You're right. Did better with pick 3 ten years later.

Even so, pick 6 seems cursed. Pretty sure it's reflected in the stats.
Maybe an urban myth.
Yep pick 6 is for some strange reason a cursed pick. Somehow it landed on a ordinary player like James Walker in 1997 or an injury prone players like Chad Wingard in 2011 or someone that didn't work out in the end like Ashley Sampi in 2001

Sampi and Wingard are among the most successful pick 6 as well

Solid inside mids.

But crows could of added Sam Powell Pepper, Zak Butters then one of Caleb Serong or Hayden Young if the crows had their time again.

Rankine will be better than all of them as early as this year and is probably on most of their levels already tbh.

I’d 100% prefer Rankine over either of Serong or Butters if given the choice.

He was a top 10 player in the comp through the midfield last year, maybe even top 5. Players who have the ability to get 25 touches and kick 25 goals don’t grow on trees. It’s pretty much Bont, Warner and Heeney.

JHF, Rankine and Sheezel the most likely to join them this year.

Disappointed to hear that Nick will only kick 24 goals this year to go with his 40 touches a game 😢

Sampi played like 90 games in 5 or 6 seasons. Talented, don't get me wrong, but there was an off-field incident that hurt his career.

Wingard was good at Port. But at the hawks, sadly was stuffed by getting injuries every 2nd week.

Jack McCrae would be the best pick 6. Taken in 2012. Played 12 seasons at the dogs including that 2016 grand final in which he got a medal

Annual Geelong post.
Staggering how young we are atm, for us anyway.

Of our 11 that are 29 and over, 5 are playing presently and a 6th should be soon - Kolodjashnij.

But we have a similar profile of players in the team atm as North Melbourne. While being younger and less experienced than what Hawthorn are fielding.

Guthrie, Bews, Stanley and Duncan no longer in the best side, and fielding a very young and green midfield group.

Gunston and Breust raise our average age a bit when called upon to replace 22 and 25yr olds.

Dangerfield and Blicavs masks how inexperienced and young we are right now.

Geelong had 7 players with less than 25 games last night. Hawthorn had 1.

Geelong only had 3 players with 150+ games which was the second lowest of any team this round.

I'm pretty sure we're actively trying to get games into youngsters we rate but realistically a team this inexperienced isn't going to be competing for the flag. Add a few good players that are currently out and 15 more games into some of these youngsters and things might improve. We'll see.

Lol our midfield had an average age of 23 last night. Brisbane's had an average age of 27.4. People just can't wrap their heads around the fact that this team is extremely young right now.

Our 23 was only 1 month on average, younger than North Melbourne.

Finally, we've attained the BigFooty dream combo of being young and shit!
