Re: which one's sweeter?

Not quite sure which is sweeter. 2007 will forever be special for its drought-breaking effects while this one gives a satisfying feeling of redemption and greatness in the modern era.

Re: which one's sweeter?

Maybe if I had been around for all of those 44 long years I would say 07, but the whole lead up to this years granny and coming from behind to beat a great side was just incredible.

Re: which one's sweeter?

I can't split them (and wouldn't try to).

They generated totally different emotions in me, but the level of emotion was the same for both.

Re: which one's sweeter?

2009 easy!

a) The pent up anger & frustration from 2008
b) We were written off late in the season.
c) Better game / worthy opponent / come from behind etc...
c) I was there for this one!! (Greatest day of my football life!) :D

Re: which one's sweeter?

I didn't celebrate this one quite as hard as I did in 07, but i'm enjoying this one much much more.

To come away with the cup after all the struggles we've had this year, and against a very very good team, it's just awesome. I will savour this victory until September 2010 :D

Re: which one's sweeter?

They are both as good as each other.

2007 - we had lost several Grand Finals since last winning one and that was a huge weight hanging over the club. To go and win it in such style was an awesome feeling.

2009 - has been a much tougher year. St Kilda have been extremely good and we have struggled with injuries and form. People saying if we didn't win this year we would not be seen as a great team. And the final was a huge battle - on the line until the very end.

The emotion at the final siren was greater this year but seeing the cup lifted in 2007 was just as good.

my question is.... which one would you have prefered to win if you had to choose. would you have prefeered to have beaten hawthorn and lost to the saints or vice versa??? i would have much preferred to have beaten hawthorn and lost to the saints

You realise the Hawkins poster was worth 12 points right? If it was correctly judged Chapman would not have got the other goal 20 seconds later and then Rooke is forced to kick a wet ball after the siren and he would'nt have had the option to grub it along the ground, there was some luck in this one.

How could you be so sure of that? The resultant kick in could've been cut off and sailed through for a goal. Maybe the guy kicking out could've gone over the line while kicking in, and Geelong get a goal from the resultant ball up at the top of the goal square. He could've kicked it out on the full. He could've slipped over and accidently kicked over his head and given us another point.

See, I can make crap assumptions too. :p

Both different kinds of sweetness.

The one in 07 was great because of the utter domination, knowing no one was in a bulls roar of us.

This one was also sweet in it's own right because we were struggling, people were writing us off and we got back up.

Haha, I wasn't replying to you of course... IF I had to choose that, I'd probably take the back to back beating Hawthorn and then losing to St Kilda.
