Which League is tougher

I miss watching the ABC 2 footy but i was wondering what league is tougher to play in. I say South Australia as it look more skill then Victoria.

The SANFL is definitely the highest quality local league, but it's still a significant step down from AFL level.

What have been the scores lately when the WAFL/SANFL/VFL play against each other in rep. footy?

That should give an indication (although i'm not sure if there are eligibility rules with AFL-listed players etc), that would dilute teams' quality.

SANFL is tougher than the VFL as has more mature aged and bigger and stronger bodies. It is a well known fact that ex VFL players comment on how both comps are equal for skill and speed but the SANFL is the more physical. Both are ahead of the WAFL tho.

Prev state results argue that the SANFL has the best record closely followed by the VFL and then the WAFL last.

Geez this thread is an exercise in objectivity isn't it? So far half a dozen posters from Adelaide have claimed categorically that the SANFL is easily the superior of the State Leagues!!

I recall that the VFL team of the year thrashed the WAFL... and the VFL only selects players who are not on an AFL list.

I don't know the outcome of the VFL V SANFL.

Look at the history. VFL did beat SANFL in 2002 but we won the most recent contest and then the two before that. Not saying that are miles ahead cos I'm from Adelaide. I give honest opinions, not your typical bigfooty delusioned poster.

SANFL comprehensively. VFL is probably 3rd of three. There are too many immature bodies in the VFL, picked from AFL lists but not yet footballers. Although the weaker WAFL sides (at least when had games on ABC2 to be able to compare) might be weaker than the weaker VFL sides. So, in that respect, there might be more easy games in the WAFL.

The WAFL is miles behind the other 2 in standard, last year the VFL absolutely ahnilated us. I think the SANFL is ahead of us because there is more interest and the clubs probably have more money to retain/import players. Many quality players in WA go to the country as the pay is superior.

The first thing the WAFL needs to do is sort out the ridiculous unevenness of the comp, I can't remember the last time I watched a game with a margin of less than 6 goals. At least WA are still producing plenty of young players that are being drafted into the AFL.

Its not a question that can be answered by results of interstate games alone.

The VFL comp week in week out has AFL players from TEN Victorian clubs playing so the standard of the comp is far superior than any other State league in the nation.
If the VFL could pick the best players who play weekly including AFL players for State games then they would blow the other State leagues away.

The WAFL is deffinately the weakest. I believe the salary cap is 1/3 of the SANFL. The structure is shit, players leave for over east or the country were pay is better and they have no chance of attracting players from over east. It's a mess.

Yes but the WAFL over the past few year have produced the best young talent. Whats going on there?

SANFL definately , SA footy is becoming more enjoyable to watch than the AFL these days because of the umpiring.
