Which players in your opinion should the eagles target at season's end? And be realistic with your suggestions.

Personally my three targets would be Headland(brisbane), Johnstone(melbourne) and Gaspar(richmond).

Headland is a WA boy and has indicated he is unhappy with the lions. Hasn't really performed to expectations and could be perfect for the picking. He will come of age soon, so picking him up while he's relatively cheap would be good.

Johnstone is apparently one of the most talented players around, but his low work ethic has really pissed off his coach and teammates. With a $250,000 a yr contract offer he shouldn't be too hard to snare. Has only a year left on his current contract so could also be ripe for the picking.

Gaspar might be saying he wants to stay with richmond, but if he does move i think we got a better chance of snaring him than freo does. Plus we have his brother, so we can get some inside info from Travis and blackmail Darren ;) (only kidding)

Three good choices there d4e but it is way too complex. Sure we can choose good players. Hay or Dustin Fletcher would be great but they have to be available, want to move and we need the right trade bait. We just don't have enough information to make educated choices. And we know that most player trades are kept close to the chest of those involved.

Gaspar, yes definitely. Obviously the WA clubs are both sniffing around, although I believe his management are using this to talk up the price to Richmond, where he wants to stay and play finals football in the short term.

Headland, yes if he's prepared to come and play. Looks a likely type, though I haven't seen much of him.

Johnstone, no way. Soft, lazy, lacking in physicality and work rate are just some of the words that spring to mind.

We need midfielders who can win the ball and midfielders who can pass the ball accurately into the forward line. These seem to be as rare as hen's teeth, so I'd look at anyone answering this description.

I still think that growing your own, especially if they're from WA, is the best way forward.

IMO he could be incredibly good, and with the possibility of woosha coaching us next year i believe he would thrive under him.

I know that i certainly would be willing to take a punt on him, the worst that could happen is he wouldn't get a game.
