So... let me get this straight... you want to trade McLean?

I thought I had heard it all...
Yes l would. I just dont see what all the fuss is about this man. Obviously he can play but is really as good as everyone thinks. As l said earlier on l hope he makes me look like a fool and l will gladly apologise.

Looks like you've made a fool out of yourself already.

Seriously what the hell is with this board lately? Why do various panic merchants want to get rid of vital parts of our team? This team does not need to rebuild we just need to improve our big man depth and keep picking up good midfielders.

This Year for the Melbourne Football Club is a year to forget, never the less i personally think we have the talent to make top 8 and be a serious threat. We where hit hard with injuries this season and there was nothing we could do about it but do our best week in week out with what we had.

I have come up with a brief list on who i think melbourne need to get rid of for us to be a serious threat in the next coming years.

Players that Should be delisted:

1. Clint Bizzell (as Far as i know he has been delisted. This man could play the game but daniher didnt want a bar of him.

2. Nathan Brown (retired)

3. Nathan Carroll (no one in there right mind would be stupid enough to pick up this bloke. He has an attitude problem. He thought he was the next silvani. Get rid of that ridiculous moe and start playing some serious football or bugger off. You cant kick, and u cannot handle pressure. Clearly not good enough for AFL level.

4. Ben Holland (Has been a great servant but, im sorry my freind you just aint the player we need to win a flag. You have no agility what so ever, and you cant kick either.)

5. Brad Miller (i think we where a year too late to get a trade out of him. He is a massive confidence player, at this level you should be mentally up to it and if your not putting in then u must go. Also for a key position forward who doesnt kick goals, and cant mark in front with his hands is pretty much useless.

6. Byron Pickett (rate him highly i dont have a bad word too say about the bloke. Just abit old now and doesnt seem to be as interested. Ill forgive him for that what a great player.)

7. Daniel Ward (even though he got delisted, i would have kept him. He has genuine pace out of the back line and has good skills. One of very few players this year who gave us a bit of momentum. Unlucky)

Trade Bait:

1. Ryan ferguson (just hasnt taken the next step, he has no muscle which is vital for a tall key position defender. I think we can get something for this guy.

2. Mark Jamar (another one that has his head stuck up his a@se. Has the body to play but doesnt have the football brain needed, to be the number 1 ruckman at any club. Very good trade bait, i think a trade would be good for the man, maybe he might pull his finger out.)

3. Travis Johnstone (We all know how good this bloke is and what he can do, but in my opinion i have had enough of his inconsistancy. No matter how good he is he will never be a consistant player for the simple reason his playing style will never allow him too. His skills a superb, he has flair like no other but he has a heart like a peanut. When the going gets tough he is no where to be seen. His an out side player, which i have nothing wrong with but he just goes missing. He also hates being tagged, for me if we are ever going to win a grand final in my life time we need passion. Travis im sorry your a star but we can get a bloody great pick for you.

4. Brent moloney (I have yet to work out why ppl froff over this guy???? The bloke is a one way player.... He is so obvious my grand mother who knows jack all about football would know exactly what he would do as soon as the ball would hit his hands. Clearly the dumbest player in the team, and as far as im concerned he can play for a bottom 4 club. We cannot afford someone with his lack of football intelligence to be making critical decisions in the dying seconds of a grand final. We would get a handy draft pick for him because he is a tough at it and teams these days love hard nuts.

5. Paul Wheatley (when he first started playing i thought we had something special here, but he just hasnt come on which is a pitty cause i really like the guy. He just isnt cut out to be part of a top 4 side. he Some times has this uncanny ability to stuff up the most easiest passage of plays. Plays very very loose for a defender which is a worry.

Players that need to improve

1. Brad Green (had a good season but we need more from him. I thought this bloke was going to be better than bruce but this is not the case. He hasnt improved much over the years. Personally i think we play him in the wrong position. His a dead eye dick when it comes to kicking goals but for some reason he rarely gets the chance to play deep.

2. Paul Johnson (it is true that taller players have a longer life span and usually get looked allot earlier than talented smalls even if there not even looking for talls. This guy how ever was picked up at west coast to play a major role, he did nothing there and im starting to think west coast new exactly what they where doing. I have faith in him but he needs to step up to the next level quickly cause whitey needs a hand.

3. Colin Syvia (this man is my protege i rate him highly. To the point where i think this man potentially will be our best player we have had in years. I also think this man could be in the future top 5 best players in the comp. He has everything u could want and the melbourne coaching staff know exactly what he can do. His been unlucky with some injuries but he needs a really good year next season cause i dont want too see a player of his talent wasted.

4. Adam Yze (not going to say much but we need him to perform and perform well cause believe it or not when this mans on fire we are one bloody good side. freak

Thats basically it guys, i have written enough to put u all asleep but i think its good reading. Feel free to give me a bit of crap if u feel i have been a bit harsh. Thats what where here for.

We didn't need to read it twice, thats for sure!!!

You have joined the get rid of Carroll movement, which is fine, but please give an alternative full back when planning to axe him. He definitely isn't the best full back and we would all like to get rid of him but at the moment there just isn't a better option. Especially if you want to get rid of Ferguson as well. We can't ruin Frawley's career before it has even started, Carroll is needed to fill the full-back position until someone better is ready.

I also can't see you getting much for Jamar and Ferguson, their best value would be as a pick upgrader so to speak, ie we give Jamar and pick 69 to the tigers for pick 51, even that may be a little ambitous.

agree with most of what you say expect for a few points

as listed:
  • Delist Carroll..............WRONG..solid without beng spectacular and who else could play full back? I cant understand the constant carroll bashing on this board
  • Trade Wheatley............MMMMMM...under a better game plan his skills could be utilised his kicking breaks the lines
  • Green average...............TOO KIND... hes worse than average hes the most overated player at Melbourne.....the ultimate sheep dog and you watch how many times he slips over its like the MCG is an ice staking rink.
And theres just one thing I cannot understand
  • Trade TJ......................MADNESS...the bloke has one of the best footy brains going around...world class foot skills...amazing vision and under a game plan that utilises his strengths we would not only be top 4 but we would win a flag. He is easily the best midfielder to play for Melbourne since Robbie Flower. (Stephen Tingay circa 1994 comes close)
Please dees supporters realise TJ could have been traded to Sydney a couple of years back and not only would they have won the GF last year but he would have had two brownlow medals.

We have a man capable of carrying us to greatness....build a gameplan that utilises his truckloads of ability.

GO DEES

World class foot skills my arse. Turns the thing over half the time. One or two laser passes doth not world class make. You're the only person on here fanatical enough to make my love for Phil Read look objective.

I don't want to get rid of him. How many fullbacks can you name that looked good in shit sides? Danny Frawley is the only one I can remember. Plenty of people bagged Matty Scarlet last year and the Cats were a much better team than we were this season. Now that Geelong are on the top of ladder he will be all Australian again. Carroll suffered this season because our midfield pressure was pathetic and he didn't have Rivers around to help out.

Tingay was the best midfielder I've seen at Melbourne easily. If it wasn't for injuries he would have been spoken about in the same class as the modern greats. TJ will never get near that but he could've been great if he came with a brain.

EXACTLY defenders arent responsible for our midfilders complete lack of pressure.

Theseventhhamster your right on the money.

Yeah ok. But wait: green is worse than Carroll. Double standards posting mate.

Green should head back to the forward line where he can use his skills as key forward who can kick regular goals.

Just as I pump you up you let me down.

If Bailey's got his wits about him TJ will star next season and all the bashers will eat humble pie.

Let our club be steeped in mediocrity no longer our saviour wears number 16 and he shall lead us to greater things

(Do agree stinga was cruelled by injuries........great player)

I'm not bashing him, I'm saying that he will never live up to his potential. When fit he is usually brilliant and I'm glad he plays for us. My point is that the guy had limitless potential, he could've been anything. TJ was so dominant as a junior that he developed bad habits. I know guys that played with him in the 18's and there are plenty of current stories about him too. He just isn't and never will be the type of guy to commit 100% to football.

True I have heard stories about similar things but the culture at the football club for the past decade has been near enough is good enough and that comes from the board, through to the coach, through to the players. He is a very laconic looking player but i dont think its lack of effort. He is frustrated with the game plan that was used....

Im not making excuses I srtongly believe we have only seen glimpes of what he can do and I hope he can string it together

Given the right enviroment and the success at all costs culture a Dean Bailey might bring in TJ will furfill his enormous potential...

Even God has flaws

Stinga lovers, the nude photo of him is on display in a outdoor kind of photography gallery along side the river out the back of fed square, with a whole heap of other great AFL shots.

TJ is God, your starting to make me think your are Travis Johnstone, then I remembered he wouldn't be able to spell. We all love him, but he isn't going to win the team anything, he is the icing on the cake, Green this year has shown that he can do couragous acts and he is willing to lead the team, he has stopped trying to be the icing and tried to make the whole cake better. (what an awesome metaphor)

And Supermerc, your love of philthy is justified, surely it wasn't a coincidence that he left us and we started losing, and where did he go - Geelong (VFL but don't get technical) and look how they are going.

Travis Johnstone is not a saviour ffs. He's a good player but your obssession with him has gotten in the way of your judgement. Carroll won't be traded and doesn't deserve to be traded as much of the fault should be drawn to somke of our slack midfielders that allow such easy ball into the forward line. And yes, Travis is the main culprit.

We need to trade for a backman and even then i wouldn't get rid of Carroll.

Are men instantly turning gay upon site of it? Seems risky to me, I'll give it a miss it's hard enough just trying to suppress my Brock love.

Nah, I was walking past and stopped to have a look at the exhibition, its afl photos like Nicki Winmar's famous one and sure the one of stinga, its worth a look, some of them are pretty good, the stinga one isn't a favourite though.

I love Travis Johnstone but seriously you're pumping him up way to much.

Quick question, is your name Travis Johnstone?

**EDIT**

Just read MB's post at the top and noticed he was thinking the same thing I was lol.

True, but I'd take Viney and G. Lovett before Tingay.

I can't even be bothered responding to this rubbish anymore. Hold on, I've got it...

LET'S SACK BAILEY!!!!!!

I would too on actual production. Although Lovett was cut down too eh? It'd be great if Nathan Jones could emulate him, after all they look similar.

Nathan Jones looks like theres a slight possibility of growing a strand of hair and there was no hope in hell for Lovett lol.

Good too see i have had a reaction from my post which is what i wanted. We can all say that the players i brought up would completely demolish our backline, but the fact is we need to get rid of these duds.

If we trade someone like travis johnstone then we are going to get a gun in return, its just the way it works. In regards to carroll ill have none of it he is a dud and does not look like getting any better. Yes the midfield got hammered this season which didnt make it easy for him but my word the guy cant kick a ball, and his ability to make any sort of decision under pressure is laughable.

Melbournes biggest loss in the past 3 years was when scott thompson went back home for family reasons which is fair enough. He has killed us big time. This guy can play the game. We have been unlucky at times with also the loss of troy broadbridge and god bless the man and his family cause he was going to be a very very good player for us.
