Few summers before that was some huge huntsman on the top of the back fence, biggest I've ever seen and it scared the shit out of me, threw a cricket ball up in the air and smacked it with the bat and hit the spider.

That's impressive.

That story reminds me of when i was a kid playing cricket at a mates house, his brother was fielding and i was bowling, my mate smacks the ball hard into this tree and his little brother goes to fetch it... then comes running back crying.

Turns out the ball hard obliterated a bee hive, and they were kinda pissed about it and the little brother incurred their wrath.

I don't know about NSW but the biggest spiders in SA that i've seen are Wolf Spiders which can be ridiculously big. I had one in my room many years ago that was the size of my hand. They have bodies like a small mouse and thick legs, so they are genuinely big, not fake-big like huntsmans which just have long thin legs that makes them appear bigger than they are. The wolfy also took half a can of spray and basically laughed it off. The stuff simply doesn't work on big spiders in my experience,it just makes them angry.

What's wrong with a good old baseball bat they're very effective?

Had a reasonable size huntsman crawling up my shin while driving the other week.
Thought ,It wont bite I know what it is, suck it up and put it out when you get home.

I couldnt find it wife freaked out said she wasnt driving around in the car until I found it.

Bought some plant the other day had them in the back seat.
Huntsman was in them when i took them out

Wife is happy

I got bitten by a white tail spider but all that happened as I got a burn like mark down my forearm and it just felt like a burn and then after a few hours it blew up like a blister.
