Didn't Wellingham get toweled up by him in the Pre-Season?Interesting question?
Wellingham did a bit of a job on GAJ last year but I've not seen him specifically given another tagging job.
Johnno got the same job this year until his leg fell off (not GAJ related).
Who is/are our prospective taggers?
I know Daisy got a couple of run with jobs earlier this years...
according to footy classified its alan toovey.
Pebs??
He might not have the indurance but if he can knock them out at the first bounce we're laughing..
FWIW if footy classified was talking about a midfield tagger its not toovey, he's a small defender and playing well in the role. Personally i dont think theres anyone in the firsts who even looks like a tagger except for maybe Thomas. It could be a good idea because as it stands he has no idea how to be a consistent mid and the players he plays on will teach him. We know they wont be able to get away from him and he can hurt them the other way. I like him on the half back line tho.
Maybe O'Bree could be moulded to extend his career, we know he lays a lot of tackles (dont all stick tho)??
NOT BARHAM!!!! Until his kicking improves 800% he shouldn't even be thinking about peeling the oranges for the firsts. Look at all the league's best taggers - they are all good footballers. What's the point in beating your opponent to the ball if when you get it you give it straight to another opponent 9/10. Invariably taggers get a lot of touches and we can't afford that. We shouldn't be selecting crap players because "you dont need to be good to play that role", we will never win a premiership (which i can see on the horizon now) that way..

Pre injury Ben Johnson was filling a genuine tagging role.
With the exception of a quarter on Yablett, when Yablett was basically floating around the forwardline, who has he tagged?
this year no oneWith the exception of a quarter on Yablett, when Yablett was basically floating around the forwardline, who has he tagged?
Clinton Jones is probably the best tagger in AFL at the moment and he doesn't exactly have good skills, probably better than Barhams though.
i would say Jackson from Richmond is on form the best tagger going around, he is killing everyone and taking some massive names while getting a fair bit of the ball himself. Would be leading Richmond's B&F probably
Agree with Pie eyed that we don't need a tagger for the swans game, as you've pointed out man on man has worked consistently in the past. I would suggest however that special attention to run with Goodes is needed as he is in great form. I don't think Toovey would be able to go with him though whether he is up forward or in the guts.
