Ask a Collingwood supporter and the least important is Dal Santo, who just happened to miss Saturdays game. So he wouldnt of made any differance:eek::eek::eek:

Go back a couple of weeks and Collingwood supporters were comparing Pendlebury with Dal Santo...:)

Dal Santo is coming last in this poll aswell... (Im not even going to include Jones...) Pendles is way better than Dal Santo and is 4 years younger...

Montagna is coming equal 2nd atm, where I had him 2nd...

Pendlebury and Dal Santo are completely different footballers. I've only seen one person mention them being similar and they got shot down. Currently Dal is comfortably ahead of Pendles.

imo importance to the team purely as a midfielder.

Hayes > Dal > Monty > BJ > Gram > Jones

BJ ranked lower simply because as a jack of all trades, he isn't a key to the midfield. Hayes wins simply because he's Lenny and an absolute superstar, but the player I'd want receiving the dish off from him or creating the 50 entry is Dal.

Yep BJ is the best player but not the best midfielder. I like Hayes because he would easily be the toughest out of that bunch and really lifts the team

Yeah absolutely no doubt about Hayes being the pick of the bunch. Id say after that it goes Joey, Goddard, Dallers, Gram. Jones really doesnt deserve to be there with the form he has shown this year. Hopefully he can find it or Armitage can get fit again and take it. Also McQualter is a shadow of his 2009 self. He needs to lift his act

Won the WC game off his own boot when they looked in real trouble. Done it plenty of times.

It makes me sad everytime I see a player that regularly gets 25+ touches in the midfield labelled as unable to win you a game. I'd take 30 possessions from Hayes through the middle before 5 goals from Lance Franklin or Paul Chapman.

What'shisface should watch the Prelim last year - Hayes was titanic in that. And perhaps the H&A Hayes played against his mob. Both times Hayes won the game through his efforts.

Goddard, Hayes and Montag are top tier. Dal next level down.. Then the rest of your mids.

Dal is just as good as Hayes and Montagna. Goddard is probably the best of the lot, but like others has said, he isn't a 'pure' midfielder like the others.

Goddard is easily in the best 3 players in the competition, so I picked him.

Nick Dal Santo was unlucky not to win a brownlow a few years ago, but is the total opposite in player type to a Lenny Hayes...

Lenny hits packs and hurts people, Nicky Dal hits targets with either feet on the chest.

Goddard
NDS
Lenny
Montagna
Jones

I understand this sentiment, but I must disagree in a sense.

Dal Santo's strongest point is his evasiveness and his disposal skills, but he is by no means an outside player - he averages more than 8 contested possessions a game and isn't afraid to get into a pack or put his head over the ball.

He used to be soft but he isn't anymore.

Hayes is simply a champion.
