Both going very nicely, along with Brisbane, GWS and Geelong, top 4 should come from those 5 teams
Brisbane have played both west coast and richmond so far, so would say their draw til now has been much easier.
Suns have played westcoast, melbourne, north so also a very easy draw.
GWS played melbourne and wescoast.
Geelong, other than melbourne have played decent oppos.

Not all form lines are equal.

Yes Pies and Hawks have had tough draws, Hawks getting the short straw of an SA team in Gather Round, that hurts

Regardless of opposition, they're the 5 who look the most dangerous imo, in flag contention, I would rank them at this stage:

1. Bris
2. Haw
3. GWS
4. Coll
5. Geel

It isn't a question of 'impact on a game'.

The problem for Collingwood is that Nick Daicos is so significantly better (and more impactful) than any other player on the list, that it looks like his performance 'impacts' games. In reality, the Pies just have very few other players that can sway the result of a game and its left to Daicos to provide the spark.
De Goey (when he isn't injured), and Houston (who only just joined the club) are the only other gamebreakers on the list that aren't in the twilight of their careers.

Conversely, Hawthorn has a much more even top end. Newcombe, Day, Sicily and Moore all capable of swinging a game, with youngsters like MacDonald, Weddle and even Watson not far behind.
What a shite take lol

To be honest, this whole thread is bizarre to me. Hawthorn and Collingwood are in totally different demographics for their team and their goals. Pies are in win now, have the list for it and are recent premiers who had a dip in form in their b2b year. Hawks are a really young team embracing a new culture and are adding side pieces to bolster. They should aim to make finals again but top 4 is certainly not a realistic goal.
This aged well

Draw.

Didnt your lot just lose and get kicked out.

Geelong is in the GF.

Thats not a draw. Lol.

Also the second time the Cats beat the Hawks.

Opps wrong thread. Thought this was the Cats Hawks pissing contest thread.
More Eagles derangement about the Hawks.

Just happy with the result. :)

Deranged is just how many threads you create on the Hawks board. Its like your own little kingdom you've created. Very Trump like TBH. ;)

Enjoy the off season.
I’m a Hawthorn board moderator. It’s literally my job to create and manage threads about Hawthorn on the Hawthorn board.

But you’re not deranged about Hawthorn at all…

I think we finished higher after finals according to draft order? We definitely finished higher on the ladder.
Highest finishing ladder position
Lost to the eventual premier rather than losing to the runner up

On both accounts Collingwood finish 3rd and the Hawks 4th

Correct.

Collingwood contended for the flag by finishing top 4 and making a prelim

Hawks didnt finish top 4 and played a prelim. That is not contending as per Fadge.
You need to stop listening to Carlton supporters misrepresenting my interpretation of what constitutes contending and what doesn't.

Collingwood contended for the flag, by virtue of being top of the ladder and flag favourite for most of the year, finishing top 4, winning their Qualifying Final, and being well within striking distance when the whips were cracking late in the Preliminary Final against the eventual premiers.

Hawthorn are an interesting case study. They just missed out on top 4 due to a narrow Final round loss away from home against the eventual premiers. They then won their first two finals - they were the better team against GWS for all but about 20 minutes of the game to win by 3 goals, and belted Adelaide. They were competitive against Geelong, who were just too strong in the end.

For mine, Hawthorn should be considered Premiership contenders in 2025, in a borderline decision, though I could understand if others thought differently.
