Am I correct by saying that because of big Gawns season ending injury we are able to promote a rookie? If so who would you promote? IMO I would defiantly promote Magner! Tough inside mid to give the young boys a chop out. Thoughts?

There are two upgrades available to us, correct. The other because we only have one veteran on the list (Green). We can nominate one for Gawn and another one that we promote at the start of the year right? There's no doubt that Nicho will be promoted though.
Is it fair to say Sheahan is at least a year off at this stage?
You'd have to say if the time trials are anything to go by then Nicho is virtually a lock for that 40th senior list spot.
Then we have the (full year) LTI elevation for Gawn and a mid year nomination as well.
With a couple of months to go before the regular season and an interesting NAB cup coming up I'm thinking Couch, Evans, Lawrence and Magner are competing for that LTI elevation with the unlucky ones having a 2nd chance mid year. Perhaps throw Williams in the mid-year mix depending on where the team is at.

I think Evans is still recovering from his surgery (those who've been to training could probably confirm or deny) which would make it hard for him to stand out to the extent that Nicho has this preseason. It was his hard working attitude that got him an elevation before Nicholson last season so it will be interesting to see where he fits in once he gets up to speed.I still think it is possible that Couch ends up being a Cameron Johnston type - not really likely to break through, but someone who deserves a crack at a year full-time footy.
There must be a reason why Geelong and Collingwood never bothered to take him on in the past... Magner, on the other hand, could make an instant impact.
I think that the combination of an exciting rookie draft (compared to a fairly boring national draft) from the club, and the fact that it is the off-season, have combined to give us more optimism than usual regarding rookie draftees.
Be interesting to try and find a thread just after the rookie draft last year and see what people thought of Cameron Johnston at the time.
I think that Pickles could be the big loser out of the drafting of Magner and the continued development of our midfield; his skills let him down, and I think that Nicho's hard work has left everybody in no doubt that he is the next cab off the rank when it comes to promotion to the senior list.
I think that Couch and Williams remain absolute smokies at the moment. Will be interesting to see how they respond to full-time footy.

I think people rate Evans a bit too highly at times (not you two specifically, but just in general). He played what, two senior games? They came in the middle of a serious injury crisis when we were running out of fit and healthy midfielders to pick. Yeah he played alright, but his form at Casey wasn't amazing thereafter.
Far be it from me to write him off, but I don't put him in the same bracket as Nicho in terms of long-term success, elevation to the senior list this/next year, etc etc. They were always mentioned together to start with, but no longer is that the case IMO.
