I'm going with about 5 other freo supporting friends! Should be a ripper of a game!

I am a Melbourne based Freo man and believe it or not I am working. Arrrrrrrrrrgh!!!! Trying to get the day off so I can meet some of you good people coming over.
I would be very interested in catching up with the great reporer "Imperial" and discussing the team over a cool drink.

Freo have a great chance to start the season off on the right foot for a change here. Looking forward to it.

Fingers crossed I will catch some of you at the game. Go Freo!:thumbsu:

Nice thought DL1, but I will have just arrived on the Saturday morning red-eye, with husband and kids in tow, so I imagine we'll be straight back to the apartment and it'll be a quiet dinner followed by an early night regardless of whether we win or lose. The youngest one will be ready to go particularly feral from lack of sleep by that time, not to mention the teenaged one. :o

On a side note - for those WA crew who go over regularly; is it better to get tickets through the club, or just buy them at the gate? Went to a game at TD once, and another at the SCG, and just bought tickets at the gate, but others have said it's best to get them through the club. Advice anyone? :thumbsu:

You can just get general admission tickets and just sit behind the goals on the first level near the freo cheersquad on the great southern stand!, I guess it depends where you want to actually sit, If you'd rather sit on the wing then better off booking I guess as I'm sure it's all reserved there???

IP

I have already bought mine via the ticketmaster website, got OK seats at ground level, around the 50 line, couldn't really jag anything higher or central.

It's probably worth a shot, if you go through the club you will be plonked behind the goals I would imagine.

Hmmm yeah dilemma.

Tickets from the club and sit with other Purple People (I'm a wimp and I avoid confrontation)... or Ticketmaster / gate where it's better viewing but surrounded by black and white....

I might defer to the rest of the crew on this one. :o

Sitting with other Purple People Vs the ugly Pies is always a good idea.
Having braved Victoria Park 4 times in a row and never getting out of there without some sort of blue I recommend safety in Numbers.
I am a member of the Cheer squad usually sit there and that is right behind the goals. Not the best vantage point (I like the wing) but I also like to keep an eye out for any scumbags picking on little kids and women dressed in Purple.

Try and go in a group and it is always great fun to catcg up with the hard working Miners that are Purple People who fly over for the games.

Good luck Imperial, might be an idea if you can see if you can fit into the Victorian Cheersquad.

John Strachan is in charge of Vic Member Co-Ordination and you can reach him via johns@fremantlefc.com.au

Good luck Imperial.:thumbsu:

DL1

You just scared the shit out of me.

I am in a group of 6 though, sitting well amongst the pies fans I presume.

My sister is fairly loud and enthusiastic, chances of a blue are HIGH.

I am making my friend wear shorts because his legs are covered in tattoos, that should hopefully ward away any bashings. Although he is a total pony.

Mate, best thing for you would be to have those tattoos on show - most will confuse you as Collingwood supporter no matter what colors you are wearing. Always go to the toilets/bar together. If Freo wins, don't go to the toilets/bar or train station at all. Enjoy.

So jealous guys. The anticipation is palpable. Shove it up em for us over there you guys and gals:thumbsu:!

We really aren't that bad, just try to not piss off the supporters around you and you will be fine, cheer and all just don't be smartarses to the pies people.

BTW, a friendly tip for those unaware, if you don't want to sit near Collingwood supporters stay away from the Ponsford stand. That is where most of us sit.:thumbsu:

Good luck, hopeful of a good game.:)

Believe me, I know how NOT to behave during an away game.

The worst was Fremantle vs Geelong last year, all the young males totally smashed turning around letting everyone have it when they score one of 20 goals in their brand new pristine cat jumpers they bought the week before because they sniffed success.

It's just the lowest form of a fan.

I will never ever ever be that douche bag.

If you can survive a weagles home derby you can survive a Collingwood game. The security at the MCG usually seems to be increased for a Pies game too. So long as you are prepared for a bit of friendly banter and don't want to behave like a ****head you'll be fine. Otherwise, head behind the goals at the Great Southern Stand end for safety in numbers - either way, you'll have a blast as the Freo boys bring home the four points. :thumbsu:

I have sat amongst the Magpie masses a few times Imperial, and I've never had any issues - I don't mind the banter. The biggest argument I've ever been in at the football was when we thought it would be nice to sit near the vic cheersquad - they didn't appreciate us at all (apparently, you are only allowed to cheer when instructed... ).

Have never bought a ticket to the MCG or Telstra Dome pre-game, I just get one at the gate. I hope you have an awesome time. We went to the Pies away game last year - we couldn't do a thing right in front of goals... :o

If you wish to get them through the club, usually you need to order two weeks in advance, as the club then puts in a block booking, but cannot tell you in advance which block they will be allocated.

We booked reserved seats through ticketmaster ($43 adult, $10.00 kids),
and are in block M13.
