Why do you hate the WCE?

As a WCE supporter, as I have mentioned earlier, I like freo. It is the whole WA loyalty thing. Much of the talent is local. Is there ANY freo fans that have the WCE as their no.2 team, similar to myself with you guys? Why do you hate the WCE so much. Supporters aside (all clubs have bad supporters in the mix) what drives you nuts about us? I am genuinly curious because i like freo.

I hate Wet Toast coz of basically what is happening to them now. For way too long the players have been able to get away with blue murder. The fact that the media in Perth let the club's spin get away with illegal activity was enough for me to go to Freo. Plus I am a rabid Sth Freo supporter.
Hate Wet Toast, always have, always will.

Can you seriously say you nave NO idea why there might be bad blood between our clubs?
Are you seriously perplexed as to why the true Purple Horde have a problem with some sections of WCE?
Have you been living under a rock?
Do you even acknowledge how ferocious Derby rivalry is?
Have you not noticed the years of Schadenfreude that your fellow fans have had with Fremantle?
Do you not notice every second slime troll that comes here like to wail on about premierships and that win at all costs is okay, or how evil Josh Carr & Jeff Farmer is or why is Pavlich still a Docker ( the captain that stayed )

Heck, one of your mates go's to an awful lot of trouble to make little movies about our draft history or whatever every now and then.....

i love some of the guys you have, dean cox is an absolutely top bloke
but i know my dislike has been influenced mainly by lots of arrogant eagles supporters
even now with the current situation, some supporters i know are trying to blame media/pollce etc - there never seems to be any acceptance that perhaps in hindsight the wrong decison might have been made

Hates a strong word, I dont hate the Eagles but their are certainly a lot of reasons why I dislike your club. the cotton wool treatment of Cousins and his subsequent sacking could have been avoided if the eagles didnt try so hard to sweep it under a carpet and actually handed him a god *****slap.

But its a major minority of your supporters that shirk me. The ones who will constantly try to belittle our club then say stupid things like 'freo are obsessed with us', 'the derbys mean nothing to us' when the truth is they do, but only when you win. Yes we have received spankings by you guys, and we have done the spanking but to refuse to acknowledge them is immature and childish.

I live with two eagles supporters and we get along great, cos theres a common respect, minute it is but its there. Perhaps you should ask the same of your fellow eagles supporters, you'd be suprised to see just how many of them will make stupid, hateful and spiteful remarks about us

Surely it would have to do with the loads of success vs no success factor and the arrogance it breed's from West Coast supporters. That must be at the heart of it. The cross town rivalry thing is a big factor. Port and Crows have far more balanced success rates but our hatred is more spawned from past SANFL bitterness.

Reasons for my dislike.

1) Eagles fans beleive the propaganda being spewed out by various pro eagles media outlets.

2) The Pro-WCE media has a conflict of interest in relating news to the public. Nothing gets out without Gary Stocks approval.

3) WCE Fans on Bigfooty-- besides some honest, fair minded ones.

4) The links to the underworld.

5) Grannies that call Radio Eagle.

6) Your quiet boring home crowd.

7) The way that you treated Ben Cousins after he dump on your club time after time. As some say- he could commit murder and it would`nt matter.

8) Your obsession in blaming others for your club issues- its the melb media, its the AFL,

9) The bull_hit excuses and spin your club produces.

Cousins- we all know the various issues.

Besides that, some WCE players I dont mind. I prefer your older early 90`s players than the current crop of pop stars.

Was not Adelaide created from scratch, so therfore how could you have previous SANFL rivalry? Or is it more that the whole league Vs. Port Adelaide thing?

Pretty much everyone that went for the Crows used to barrack for an SANFL team that Port regularly pumped. Their hatred carried over.

Fair enough.
I suppose you could cite the old WAFL rivalries as to why there is no love lost generally between Freo' & WCE. The irony is that Freo' is created from two sides with the most fierce of local rivalries.
If you look at it your way, Souths & Easts have pumped many teams over the years, captured many premierships, so perhaps a little of the dislike form maybe the old schoolers might come from that.

But seriously, where do I start?

Perhaps it began after the first derby when I arrived back at my school boarding house only to be greeted by catcalls and abuse about how shit my team was and what a loser I was for choosing Freo. Not just good natured abuse from mates either, borderline vicious abuse from d1ckheads who I'd never even seen watch a game of footy before.

Perhaps it was because around that time the eagles started releasing derogatory ads towards Freo in the paper and on tv. That started to give me my first glimpse at how insufferably arrogant their organisation is.

Perhaps it was because of the bully boy tactics employed by the eagles in the early days of the derbies. A group of premiership hardened veterans being hailed as heroes for beating the snot out of a woefully mismatched bunch of kids, has beens and never weres. Compounded by the incredibly arrogant condescension showed by their players towards Freo both on the field and in the media.

Perhaps it's because the eagles supporters who hailed that team as heroes suddenly found they didn't like the taste of their own medicine after the latest derby this year. The airwaves where clogged for weeks as being too rough was suddenly a despicable way to play. They can dish it out but they can't take it. And doesn't everybody just love people like that?

Perhaps it's because of the sickeningly sycophantic media in this state repeatedly ramming 'eagles are wonderful' down our throats while finding any tenuous excuse to criticise and attempt to destabilise Freo. Close Eagles victories are glorified as heroic triumphs - Freo's are unconvincing. Massive eagles victories are proof of their undeniable superiority - Freo's are proof of the ineptness of the opposition. Eagles misdemeanors are swept under the carpet (wherever possibly) - Freo's are exaggerated and their players demonised. And just in case any of the eagles supporters posing as journalists in this state dare to break ranks and criticise the eagles, they are threatened with losing their access to the club and it's players.

Perhaps it's because of their supporters who spent 6 years rubbing it in after every derby. Smugly revelling in every victory, convinced that Freo would never win a derby. But Freo did start winning derbies and an amazing thing happened. Suddenly derbies weren't important anymore. In fact, apparently these days you should feel ashamed if you dare celebrate winning a derby.

Perhaps it's because 90% of the people in this state who say they are eagles supporter are actually clueless nuff nuffs who wouldn't know the difference between a drop punt and a shirtfront. Who couldn't name any eagles players besides Cousins, Judd and 'that little black guy with the long name'. But because these experts are eagles 'supporters' they feel qualified to pass their wisdom on to me about how Freo could improve to be more successful like the mighty eagles. Well I watch more games in one weekend than they do in a year and I don't need some part time hero who feels the need to attach themselves to a winning team to feel important condescendingly lecturing me on the faults of my club.

Perhaps that's it. I've never really thought about it before.

Good point. To be honest - I went to a Freo vs Magpies game a few years back and was in awe watching a group of Freo supporters in front of me. It made me feel ashamed and brought a tear to my eye that our supporters where nowhere near that level of supreme football knowledge and support as those loyal fans.

To this day, those shrieking calls of "we love you Medders!" and "You're so hot Medders!" still haunt me
