Religion Why is Antisemitism such a big deal but hate against other religions not so much?

Your people believe there is no purpose to humanity's existence and you comment on human rights.
This gets the most ******ed post award for 2025 here, hands down, you need to believe in a purpose of existence to comment on a basis for human rights? Roylion have extensively argued about how morality is ever evolving and subjective. If you would just stop button mashing and attacking people/ranting and head over the Christian thread, you will see for yourself. Even Christians agreed.

Human rights are also ever changing. Do you believe wives should submit to husbands like Christianity tells you? I wouldn't be surprised if the answer is yes.

Copious amounts of books have been written about ethics and morality without any reference to metaphysical sources. Perhaps you should read a good introduction to ethics (which you need to learn anyway, based on your blatant disrespect for posters and the habit of PLAYING THE MAN while patting your own back claiming 'oh i am so smart') but here you are flapping your gums and typing your uninformed opinion which makes you look even dumber than your posts.

Also the same human rights where your wonderful prophet had concubines and sex slaves? I heard he was the most perfect man ever......... ah yeah back in the old days.......i know i know...

SBD Gonzalez what's your thought on morality as a nihilist?

You still have the same bullshit arguments you were on years ago which is why I don't engage with your stupidity.

Your people believe we're on a space rock floating to our doom having come here by complete random chance that is extremely minuscule in possibility by your own supposed calculations of probability and you want to talk about moral framework. You don't have a basis for your foundation. You have no objective evidence for even a single moral scale you judge with and you want to appoint yourself as the judge of morality? Can you even name the exact person that curated your moral framework and what evidence they used to curate it for every rule? Or perhaps you believe you are a free thinker (though you're just a product of your environment)? Or perhaps you think 8 billion people need to adopt your specific individual framework that you came up with without any evidence?

Your people believe there is no purpose to humanity's existence and you comment on human rights. Even though people could just declare themselves as sovereign citizens and do what they want through this logic. Please spare me the bullshit and you can jog on.
Jesus.

I'm more than happy to engage with you on an intellectual level.

Being an Irish Nationalist/Catholic in certain parts of the North of Ireland has its drawbacks and the Kultural celebration of the planters next month might have more trouble to it then recent years. That said, I don't think Catholicism - aside from certain Unionists, who are abysmal bigots & help the British state to meddle in Ireland's affairs and keep the Us against Them agenda give a shit about it.

It'll be an interesting few months when one of the soldiers who shot 3 marchers on Bloody Sunday goes on trial (which will probably end up as a mis-trial as his identity is known) pans out.

I feel like folk here should have an affinity with Israeli/Jewish people as they weren't treated much better by the British before Partition and Churchill who tried to cease Jewish refugees from flooding Europe, but can't support the few in power who have being massacaring the Palestinians. A good portion of the relatives they lost in the Holocaust would surely be sickened at what's going on there today and in the past.

IME most Irish nationalists show a lot more solidarity with the Palestinian people and their push for Statehood.

Just came back from Ireland (North, and the Republic) and it was noticeable.

The IRA used to train with the PLA (and similar entities) back in the day as well.

Yes. That's quite literally what's going on.

You can always choose to add Ganesha/ Yahwe/ Allah/ God/ Thor/ Odin/ Ra/ the Rainbow Serpent/ Ahriman or whomever your mythical fantasy creature you ascribe existence to in order to make yourself feel better about it of course.

Your people believe there is no purpose to humanity's existence and you comment on human rights.

There is no purpose to humanities existence, including your own.

Barring that which you choose to give it of course.

Why do I need a purpose in order to believe in human rights? An atheist cant also be a humanist now?

I live in one such country ruled by the Ottomans for 500 years and you can still see what they have done here with the churches and people.

How is it different to what the Catholics (for example) did in literally all of South America (and elsewhere)?

Go there and see the number that religion did to the people of the Americas.

The issue here is that antisemitism is deliberately left vague by Jewish lobbyists spreading Israeli propaganda to use as a tool of suppressing political opponents.

They use the term antisemitism to refer to three separate groups:
Followers of Judaism
Israelites as an ethnic group (as in the descendants of Jacob)
Israelis (a nationality)

All three can exist separate to each other. E.g. not all Israelites are Jewish by faith or Israeli by nationality so the separation needs to be distinct to understand the disingenuous nature of its modern usage by lobbyists.

Criticising the actions of a nation or disliking a country has no relevance to antisemitism because it's criticising the government or even the society or culture built in that nation. It should never be used in the context of nationality irrespective of whether or not it is the only Jewish state. The US was founded on Christianity and disliking Americans isn't discriminating against Christians. Someone disliking Saudi Arabia or Iran isn't Islamophobia. Likewise, someone disliking the Israeli state because of it's genocidal actions and the nature of how it was founded isn't antisemitism.

The conflation between historic oppression faced by Israelites and the dislike towards the oppressive and hateful Israeli regime is the crux of people's grievances with the usage of this term. It is used for censorship, libelling and a tool to oppress instead of genuine cases of discrimination by the Zionist lobby and media personnel.

I dont care.

You can be critical of Israel without resorting to antisemitism. They're not the same thing.

If you want to talk about Israel (and in particular the genocide that State is inflicting on the Palestinian people), there is another thread for that.

This is a thread to discuss antisemitism. Which criticism of Israels actions in its genocide against the Palestinian people is not.

They do and have done for a long time. Some guys from West Belfast do community work there and have opened up a gym somewhere in Gaza, IIRC. How do people in Australia view the genocide there? Appalled, indifferent, not sure of what's really going? There would be some murals in that part of Belfast showing solidarity - not that it does much - with the Palestinians and people from all corners would take an interest in what's going on over there, not that it's difficult not to notice. We have the odd cranks and an ex government minister who is Jewish that trot out Israeli......nonsense that this all started 2023.

No arguments but western imperialism wasn't solely driven by religious motives, but Islamic imperialism is all about converting the masses and spreading Islam. Western Imperialism was mostly about resources and empire building. You surely aren't suggesting the British went to India and converted people by the sword and killed them if they refused to?

Sure you can cite the Doctrine of Discovery etc, but still Islamic imperial was only about religion. So my question was when we talk about the West and imperialism, why does Islam get a free pass?

It's pretty naive to think that the various Caliphates expanded for no other reason than 'spreading Islam'.

Acquiring riches, gold and land played an equally huge part.

Musa ibn Nusayr's first reconnaissance missions to Hispania returned with reports of "great splendor and beauty", which increased Muslim desires to invade Hispania. During one of the multiple raids in 710, the Muslims "made several inroads into the mainland, which produced a rich spoil and several captives, who were so handsome that Musa and his companions had never seen the like of them"

Even the Crusades and the Reconquista of Spain (both ostensibly religious military campaigns by Catholics against Muslims (and to a lesser extent Jews) were about the acquisition of land and wealth as much as spreading the word of God.

Sure if you are talking about the Spanish, but doubt the British empire expanded cause of the church? or the Dutch r*ped and pillaged so many countries to spread Christianity?

Of course stealing the riches would always be a part of the raid, but converting the masses was the primary objective. If you read through the Hadiths, the primary objective of the Caliphates was to spread the word through implementation of Sharia.

Again, I think you're incredibly naive to think that.

Conquest was the primary objective. Plunder, women, glory and land. Same with the Vikings, the Spanish, the Nazis, the Mongols and every other would be conquering army.

I am not disagreeing with you and I am not talking about the plunder part, of course in any war that's that. I am not even talking about the authority that is Catholic church telling people what to do, there's nothing in the NT where Jesus states go and kill people to spread the message.

I am saying this is inspired by their interpretation of their book which states:

Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book...

from Qur'an 9:29

Whether or not Islam provided the motivation for early Muslim imperialism, it COULD be used to provide justification for it - in the same way that it had previously been used to support Mo's own actions against his opponents. Mo himself was the authority, being a warlord commander good at warfare.

Is it because of the holocaust?

When does that cooldown end?
The term "antisemitism" has been hijacked.
It has nothing at all to do with religion.

Semite.

1. a member of any of the peoples who speak or spoke a Semitic language, including in particular the Jews and Arabs.

Semitic

  1. relating to or denoting a family of languages that includes Hebrew, Arabic, and Aramaic and certain ancient languages such as Phoenician and Akkadian, constituting the main subgroup of the Afro-Asiatic family.

  2. 2.
relating to the peoples who speak Semitic languages, especially Hebrew and Arabic.

Get your facts straight if your a ****ing religious cult illegally on other people land...

Like you Israel.

Im getting a little tired of people bringing up Israel (by reference to its actions in Palestine) in this thread.

Criticism of Israel is not antisemitism. You're in the wrong thread for that.
And yet still the term "antisemitism" is misused consistently.

An Ethiopian friend of mine was recently at a gathering where he bumped into an eastern European Jew. When the Jew referred to himself as a 'Semite', my friend called BS.

My friend said, "I'm an Ethiopian, I am a Semite. You are an eastern European, you are not a Semite. We Ethiopians are Semites as are the Palestinians." This European did not reply as he had no comeback - he was extremely offended and wouldn't speak to my Ethiopian (Semite) friend again. My friend laughed off the so-called Semite's hypocrisy.

'Semite' does NOT refer specifically to Jews. Ask any true Semite who will tell you that the word has been misappropriated by the Zionists

I have a Jewish friend (of Ukrainian origin who lost most of her family in WW2) who recently told me that she has visited Israel in the past. I asked her what it was like. She replied that she didn't like it and will never go back. When I asked her why, she replied that "they're too self-entitled."

I am perfectly godless. In life. In outlook. My morality is I would not subject anyone to anything I myself would not like to experience or suffer.

This is the basis of all human rights. Nobody wants to be a second class citizen. Nobody wants to be subservient to another. This does not require knowledge of 'God' to understand.
