Street Address:

RENOWN PARK SA 5007

About 5k down Torrens Rd from Alberton none the less.

Christ if Fitzroy is dead & not in Adelaide what the hell am I doing at 8am every second Sunday morning setting up the ground for the 6's, 8's, & under 9's, manning the Barby at 10 oclock then heading off to an away game to see a team called Fitzroy play in an under 15's comp, then vise versa the next weekend?

& who are these guys?

All proof that there is indeed a Fitzroy, we are an arm of the spirit of the mighty Lions & alive & kicking.

sorry guys move on no-one give a toss

Clearly you do. If you don't give a toss why would you be bothered being here in the first place?

gee cant wait to get my hands on a copy of Jim Mains "Fitzoy" it'll be a best seller no doubt.....................

No doubt. And best of all you'll be able to buy a copy at the Fitzroy shop. Details of the shop and what the clubs sells are on the Fitzroy Football Club website. www.fitzroyfc.com.au

Honestly this would have to be the biggest load of crap I've ever had the misfortunate of reading on a football website....................

Ahhh, but you keep coming back to read it. Obviously you have a deep and abiding interest in the Fitzroy Football Club. You just can't stay away.

REMEMBER FITZROY.............YOU DONT PLAY AFL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Captain Obvious for that little pearl of wisdom.

You may not be aware that the Fitzroy Football Club still exists? Did you know that the very same Fitzroy Football Club played in the VFL-AFL competition for 100 years.

YOU GOT KICKED OUT COZ YOU WHERE CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!................

We "got kicked out"? Doesn't that imply if we got kicked out that we still exist? The club wasn't liquidated.

Why thank you. Well done. At last something sinks in. Took a while.

YOU LOST BOTH GAMES AND MONEY AND NO-ONE LIKES A LOSER!!!

Are you speaking from experience?

Sorry sport, original was never mentioned. The argument I believe is that ''Fitzroy is dead'' correct?
I just bought up to you that ''Fitzroy'' is far from dead. From the ''Brisbane Fitzroy fc'' to the ''Fitzroy Reds'' in Melbourne to the ''Fitzroy Lions'' just down the road from your own Che Cockatoo Park.
I understand that it's confusing supporting a 10yo SANFL franchise as you do & desperately trying to hold your head high by hijacking the heritage of a real footy club, but please try to keep up. No need for name calling little fella.

but they do exist power01 they have 1177 members who say so!

That's right. Well done. And you can check the 2006 Fitzroy Football Club Financial Report to confirm that. That's audited by registered company auditor Frank Nolan by the way.

And not only just the members...but it appears a significant part of the media say Fitzroy Football Club still exist as well.

And a regular read of Scot Palmer's column in the Victorian Herald Sun will see further mentions of the Fitzroy Football Club. Examples of these articles can be found on www.fitzroyfc.com.au For example to quite from Scot Palmer's Punchlines, Sunday Herald Sun, Sunday 16th April 2006, where he stated...."Fitzroy still exists under the presidency of stalwart Dyson Hore-Lacy" Daryl Timms reported that the Fitzroy Football Club still exists on in his column 'THE PULSE' on 24/2/2006 and before that on 8/6/2005 "FITZROY may not play in the AFL any more but the club is far from dead.

And then of course Damian Barret reported in the Herald-Sun on 1/10/04 that "The Fitzroy Football Club will consider legal action after a key plank of its merger with Brisbane was broken in match fixturing for next season. Fitzroy Football Club chief executive Bill Atherton said last night club chairman Dyson Hore-Lacy would soon convene a meeting to discuss options of recourse.

And of course last July, Damien Barrett published a story on the continuing existence of the Fitzroy Football Club, close to the 10th anniversary of the 1996 merger.

there are the fitzroy "reds" - now if they had any affiliation with the lions wouldnt they be called just that?

Why would they have to be called lions? Fitzroy haven't been known as the lions for all of their history. Playing at Brunswick Street Oval (Fitzroy's home ground from 1883-1966), representing the suburb of Fitzroy in Melbourne, in the Fitzroy jumper with the Fitzroy theme song not enough?

ok roy hit us with your prove it rubbish

I don't need to. You've demonstrated very well that you don't know what you're talking about. It's still amusing to read your rants though.

Must admit despite my earlier ravings,,,,,,,,,it is quite amazing you have nearly 1200 paid up members.........................i just wonder what do you do all year ?????, do you follow the footy through your affiliate teams or just play alot of bingo and trivia nights...:):)......

serious questions i would really like to know.....................:thumbsu::thumbsu:

cheers

FITZROYS IN THE PAST! You dont see a University forum (I be you dont even know who university are:p)

Know a lot more about them than you would, I'd wager.

University don't have a forum because Bigfooty never had a bunch of University fans that warranted one. Its been mentioned a few times, as has the prospect of a Brisbane Bears forum. On each occasion the lack of interested users prohibited it.

The Fitzroy FC sponsors the Fitzroy Reds and Fitzroy Juniors, and works with the Brisbane Lions to get the most out of that alliance. Amongst other similar stuff, membership tends to fund these things.

Much like any current AFL club, your membership money goes towards running the club. The one major difference is that there's not "actually get a team onto the park in the AFL" expense account in our ledger :)

I think Brisbane should have always worn the traditional Fitzroy jumper for away games in Melbourne, would have been a great nod to the the old supporters.
I heard Craig McRae suggest this a few years ago. I thought it was interesting to hear the suggestion from a Brisbane Lions player, who obviously felt Fitzroy was a big part of his club & particularly because I believe he's an ex-South Australian, who probably wasn't exposed to the Fitzroy tradition as much as those, who grew up in Victoria.

Of course they should have, but that effwit Noel Gordon would have put a stop to that..

I for one might have even got on the Brisbane/Fitzroy "merge" if that happened...and I reckon a whole lot of Royboys would have done the same...
