Why was McVeigh Captain thread closed?

I really dont care if I get black balled after this, but my thread on McVeigh as Captain was a genuine rhetorical statement. i didnt start it to stir anyone up nor be a narrow minded whinger. So because it raises contention amongst some, the thread is closed. I did not break any big footy rules, I simply raised an issue for debate, which is what I thought the whole point of having a forum like this is all about.

For what it is worth, I think McVeigh is an excellent player, I have no harsh word to say about him, just dont think he should be Captain, and feel that the choice of Captaincy has a BIG influence on a team. I have thought this since the beginning of the year, and wanted to know what others thought.

If people cannot intelligently or constructively comment, or think through an issue, that is not the fault of the thread or the person who started it.

Fair enough, Yes ok, perhaps I just picked the wrong week to make it, I take that on board. My thread wasn't created out of a frustrating loss, and as I said, I think he is in the better half of the swans list, just not as Captain. With Kirky gone, and outside of Goodsey when he is 'on', i think we seriously lack an inspirational leader, and IMO it's starting to show, no just cos we lost.

Off topic a bit but do you think Longmire is up to the coaching job? I think that taking goodes off the ball and putting him forward was a huge mistake against carlton and which lost us the game.

even if i dont agree with bagging our players(not that you seemed to have on a personal level) youd think we could discuss anything football/club related within the rules, I thought that was the point of this place.. it will turn into a boring Swans lovefest that everyone agrees with each other and kisses each others arses like that other crappy Swans site that our mod is in charge of too.

It was crap to close it as others have said and with McVeigh being appointed captain it will always cause debate.
For what its worth i gave him a vote for his two clever goals, but he will never be a captains arseh*le, having said that Goodes's sooking to the maggots was under 14 stuff.

After each performance by our team, a new player emerges as a potential captain for our club & another gets struck off.

I think McVeigh has become our captain because he has served his apprenticeship & is generally, a consistent performer.

Won't be too long before Jack is our co-captain.
