well done to woosh for this move, worked a treat and would love to see him do a job on the running backs that so often calve us up like the gilbees, hodge, burgoynes etc.. if he can start hurting them on the rebound wiht a few goals here and there then would be the missing piece in the future forward line going forward.
seems worsfold isnt as one dimentional as first thought. :)

Yeah I agree, he played a good game and it was a great tactic. He plays that role a lot more naturally than Stenglein.

The forward line is starting to take shape. I think they will continue to experiment over the next few rounds and then hopefully settle on a structure down the track.

Kennedy deserves a chance at some stage, but if Naitanui performs and comes into the side, then Lynch will be forced back into the forward line. In that case you would think we can only really keep three of Lynch, McKinley, Kennedy, Hunter and Hansen in the forward line. Will be very interesting to see how they go. I hope they don't get rid of Schofield at the expense of one of those talls - they can't play the role he did on Gilbee.

Schofield and Le Cras give the forward line extra attributes we lacked most of last year. We have a lot more avenues to goal at the moment and the forward line is working hard to lock the ball in with the zone - great stuff with plenty more improvement to come!

kennedy, hansen, hunter and lynch will never play in the same forward line (i hope) having said that woosh does love his talls.

Yeah I hope we don't go down that path.

The selectors have to make some tough calls soon - but it's a good problem to have.

I have always liked Hansen, but I think a trio of Lynch, Kennedy and McKinley rotating through the KPPs up forward, with Le Cras, Schofield and a resting mid/ruck makes us so much more flexible and dangerous. Hopefully it happens soon. Hunter is getting the job done - juuust. But he just doesn't look right.

When at the game, its hard to tell if players such as schofield and stenglein etc played well.

But judging from everyone else's reckoning, it seems he played a good game. Well done to the kid

If there's a Will, there's a way...

Not sure if he has the strength to go with hodge, but from yesterdays showing, he sure can lay a tackle.
Would also like to see him go one on one with clinton young on the wing.

Clinton Young apparently been carrying an injury and not been at his best this year. Some of the supporters are calling for him to be dropped such is his form, but I'm not sure if they have any players left on their list to replace him.

Defensive efforts from every forward is a must and highly rated by the coaching panel. Woosha said if McKinely can maintain the same defensive pressure as he just showed he would seal himself in our best 22.

Also its interesting McKinely is playing up the ground more so than Le Cras, I was wondering about this and yesterday we saw why. McKinely has a huge accurate kick from outside 50, le Cras not so much, Le Cras is still extremely accurate inside 50.

Schofield on Hodge would be a good move, Schofield has pace to burn to chase and at 190+cm has the height to worry Hodge, if Hodge zones off we should go through Schofield to make Hodge accountable.

Great win boys, lets back it up.:thumbsu:

will's attributes:

fast
hard at the ball
good kick
good tackler
good spoiler

thats enough for me, i liked some of his center clearances yesterday running off the square. he has all the defensive capabilities, if he can imrpove his ability to accumulate touches and find himself in good attacking positions i think we'll have a great player on our hands.

He started out playing as a defensive forward on Gilbee, but after half-time when Gilbee pushed forward he followed him there as well.
That's what I thought.

The way Woosh described it was as a "shut down" role so I thought considering they both covered a fair bit of ground, it was the most appropriate.

Did quite a good job. I wonder what he would be like as a run with player, I know he can play defence and seems to have added that attacking dimension to his game but soon someone will need to fill that role.

Stenglein won't be around forever and I can't see Priddis or Selwood doing it considering their clearance work is so important.

fighting his tripping charge?

i agree with that, he should. didnt seem to be anything in it. might as well get those points off his record.

Gilbee han minimal impact, and no longer was dictating the WB run from the backline.
Needless to say schofield did a very good job.
Missed an easy mark up forward and missed with a shot from 55, so he easily could have had a couple of goals to his name aswell.
Did a great chase and tackle on boyd, which was a marvel not to be paid holding the ball.

not a bad game yesterday, had his moments.
i thought his best work was done around the middle of the ground.

Loved his work from the first game I saw him play. Just about the best one on one player in the team when covering a leading opposition player. Wouldn't surprised to see him turned into an awesome spare man in defense e.g Dustin Fletcher or Jarred Waite.

I really rate him, and love the way he goes about his football.

The thing about Schofield is he does everything at a million miles an hour. You never see him put in a half assed chase, and he never just marks it and takes some time thinking about a kick, he's perpetually sprinting in one direction or another, playing on, or getting well into the off the ball argy bargy. Leave him open for the ball in the pocket and he doesn't call for the ball, he starjumps screaming for it.

It gets him into more than his fair share of difficulties (the sequence on sunday where he took a crazy assed banana snap on goal rather than calming down and handballing to two teammates in the goal square was symptomatic), but its good to see someone so psyched about it all- clearly he's living the dream every minute he's on the field. :D
