Will Thursfield

Saw a few murmurs on the Richmond board that Will Thursfield may be looking for a new club next year.

Would we be interested at all?

Would add to our young key position defender developing stocks.

Young, good size and movement ... much better prospect than Zac Dawson.

a) Would you be interested? and,

b) What do you think we would be prepared to offer for Will?

Why would Richmond offload one of their younger, better prospects as they enter a re-build phase.

I say no chance.

As for a trade... I dunno, I never get the value right... I don't think another tall defender is the answer for the Blues though. We'd do better with a a forward or a pure midfielder.

Fair enough. Just read the names Wells, Roughead, Thursfield, McGuire (and countless others!) in the last few days. So few of these things actually happen.

I think Thursty is a good un. Seems to have had a dud year, but looked the business last year.

I'd take him for sure.

He's had a shit year but he is a good KP prospect and I've liked him for a couple of years.

I wouldn't give up much for him but if we managed to get him reasonably cheaply it would be a good deal.

However it would mean that we have Thornton, Jamison, Bower, Austin and Thursfield as key position defenders and we wouldn't be able to fit them all into the same team.

Not to mention Kreuzer, Waite, Hampson, Setanta and Warnock.

That's one giant team. Far too tall.

Zac Dawson is all those things and then some, but he is playing a role that was needed.

I think Thursfield, would be a great pick-up, assuming he wants out and does not cost us an arm and a leg. Richmond fans will obviously value him highly, but a 3rd round selection would be a nice trade off.

He's actually been fairly good. For some reason he was dropped after the round 1 and wasn't brought back until after Tredrea destroyed us. The games he's played he's been good. He's played on Milne and Porplyzia the last two weeks and flogged both so he can play tall and small. He's one of my favourite players so i'd hate to see him leave.

He was all set to leave last year and then stayed on after meeting with Hardwick (when he was appointed).

I would much rather Thursfield than Warnock, because both provide the same thing.
