If he continues his current form will Todd Goldstein make All Australian this year?

Definately one of the best 22 in the league this year. Lot's of teams play 2 ruckmen and Cox currently does it so don't see why Cox and Goldstein can't both be picked. These 2 are hands down the best performers for 2011

If the team was picked on just this year, then yes. Should be picked ahead of Cox.

Cox had an amazing first two months this year, but has dropped off a bit since then (partially due to the impact of Naitanui). Goldstein has kept improving during the year and has done it pretty much solo.

That's only helped Goldstein. You said it yourself, Cox's form has dropped off a bit with the emergence of Naitanui.

I know what ur saying but should the 2011 team be based on the players 2011 form?

Goldstein has been bloody consistent for the whole season.

If they pick 2 ruckmen then yes, he along with Cox will be AA. If not then I fear they'll take the safe bet and go Cox. Dont get me wrong, hes been very good this season but IMO Goldstein has been playing at a higher level virtually solo more consistently, although West Coast do play 2 dominate rucks.

Definitely be in the squad, but not sure they'll pick two ruckman (though they did last year). Cox is the stand out for mine and will be a certainty in the side.

With Jamar, Mumford, Jolly, Ottens and Sandilands all spending time on the sidelines for extended periods he certainly is next in line I'd suggest.

I've said no, purely as I'm not sure they'll pick two, but wouldn't look out of place in the AA side after this season

I'd also like to see Leunberger in the squad. Been very good as well.

Agree but Goldsteins year has been vastly superior to Jamars of last year. Should be interesting. When is the squad announced?

They will probably only pick 1 ruckman and one utility backup like Leigh Brown.

I think the AA squad is named after the H&A season.

Jamar's year last year was very very good, just as goldstein's has been this year. I guess last year having 2 ruckman was still in vogue, whereas now it isn't due to rule changes. Only West Coast and probably essendon play 2 genuine ruckman, with most other teams pinch-hitting with a mobile tall as their second ruckman.

Would like to see him get run though. his development over the past few years has been simply outstanding.

Mitch Clark deserved it more in 2009 but they went for one ruck so I hope they do the same this year. If Sandilands wasn't injured it would've been Sandi and Cox AA.

The Melbourne media overhype Goldstein bigtime. Leuenberger was better in the ruck and around the ground last Saturday. It was evened up late when Goldy kicked a couple after the heat went from the game.

yep he will make it as the 2nd ruck. champion data has him ranked in the top 10 players this season.
Goldy is having an amazing year and winnning a lot of hitouts aswell as being influential around the ground

No he didn't.

Goldstein's year this year is one of the best "second ruckman" years that I can remember.

Clark 2009: 16 ppg, 6 marks, 22 hitouts a game with 7 goals.. from 24 matches.

Goldstein 2011: 14 ppg, 4 marks, 37 hitouts a game with 10 goals from 16 matches.

I also wouldn't say Leuenburger had the better of Goldstein, considering the latter was in most peoples votes, Goldstein gave Leuenburger a bath in the first qtr.

But but Mitch had a couple of very good games.

I saw Leuey get heaps of hit outs so he beat Goldy.

Sphynx don't let facts get in the way of a good story.

Which back up ruckman/utility would be in contention then?

Petrie...

Goldstein will definately make it. Last year we had Sandi and Jamar and this year will be Cox and Goldstein.

Arguably, an AA ruckman (i.e. one of the best 2 ruckman of the year) would improve a team more then an AA midfielder would, so why not?

Hasn't Petrie been a stay at home forward this year? Petrie would get in as a forward if anything I would have thought.

Injuries to Sandi, Jamar, Jolly, Mumford, Brogan and even McIntosh have helped, but he's been outstanding this year.

AA for me
